If the posters/members keep an open mind and discuss the topic like educated adults that we are.

Unfortunately, since this is a web forum and some posters are so valiant/brave to cuss and spit venom coz they're faceless.

I do miss the friendly banter of sexydoctor, lina, xena, ducky, ooo, eviloops, e46M3, PM...etc

As for the few who do ruin the topics, well, as hard as it may be, we need to learn to ignore them (ahem HIM) as well.

Chaos

any confused or disorderly collection or state of things; a conglomeration of parts or elements without order or connexion.

FORUM

1 a: the marketplace or public place of an ancient Roman city forming the center of judicial and public business b: a public meeting place for open discussion c: a medium (as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas

2: a judicial body or assembly : court

3 a: a public meeting or lecture involving audience discussion b: a program (as on radio or television) involving discussion of a problem usually by several authorities

there's nothing wrong with that, it give life to the forum.... ? then just go for the answer portion even that chaotic answers are present.

my opinion leave it even add more topic

It is not the topics that bring chaos .......... it is some of the people who are posting the comments.

I think we all know the ones most likely to spoil a good debate .......... regardless of topic. It is a shame to the posters getting involved in a serious dicussion/debate that they have to have it spoiled by the odd moron!!!

However, some posters have more deeper values on certain subjects and can be easily offended by a sometimes unintentional (or intentional if made by a moron:-) glib comment.

I dont see why any of the topics mentioned cannot be dealt with on QL ---- sensibly.

Why should topics be banned, theres heaps of thread you can read and discuss and if its something you dont like, just ignore it...nobody is forcing anyone to read anything...Its always the religion ones that get out of control because some people like to argue for the sake of it, let them enjoy going around in circles, who care, just open another thread that interests you. No big deal.

That's the point thexonic, some of us simply enjoy the argument, or the discussion. And well there are a few (really one) person who tends to devolve into name calling, the rest of us, while we get heated, do generally keep it pretty tame.

the problem with these topics... instead of contributing and learning more, it goes beyond its limitation, when it gets way too personal...and once you get too personal it is already hard for one user to back out...and it gets ugly in the end...

i don't know how healty debates, remains "healthy" until the end with these topics....

It shouldn't be a case of banning those topics completely, but they should only allow posts that have a valid, Qatar Living related points to debate.

Just posting something about the latest bombing or killing in another country, or a random quote from the quran, or an article about homosexuality, offers nothing to the community and is only ever going to lead to an argumentative and abusive thread.

There are other sites where those sorts of things can be posted.
