Tour: being 'Muslim for a month'
By frenchieman •
From the London Telegraph:
The expat who can help you try being 'Muslim for a month'
Ben Bowler is an Irish-Australian expat who lives in Northern Thailand. From there, he runs a series of “religous immersion tours”, designed to let participants experience what life is like for the followers of other faiths.

It seems a good idea for me. It will not change a person fast, but it will improve the understanding between 2 different worlds
this sounds fun! actually its nothing compared to cultures where wife swapping is considered fun
Khanan is either joking or he is dead stupid.
It's kind of like the folks that tour Joburg and want to see the rough areas. I don't get it, and it makes a spectacle of the whole think and trivializes it. On religious issues, I don't see how someone can get close without the core faith. But that's just me.
Agree with Frenchieman. If you don't like the OP don't post. Thousands of people must read topics they don't post on (like me). If no one is interested it goes away. Why criticize someone for starting a conversation?
Khanan--if you think it is irrelevant and don't want to discuss it, try not posting on the thread.
Who are you to say what people want to discuss and what is or is not 'relevant'?
These sorts of immersion tours are becoming popular around the world, although this is one of the first I have seen for religion. Used to be tours for being a cowboy on a Texas ranch.
I think the issue here is wether or not these sorts of emersion tours promote genuine understanding. i.e. would a 'be a Hindu for a month' or 'be a Texan for a month' genuinely change attitudes. Or is it insulting to the people being toured--turns cultures into Disney Lands.
QL with irrelevant news and copy paste news article :/
