I am planning to travel fro UAE to Qatar by land with my own car rigestred in Dubai.

I have a residence visa of UAE as I am working in Dubai.

What are the requirements are the border. I had already obtained visitor's visa to Qatar.

Can I use my UAE residence visa in going to Qatar? What about my car, is it allowed to cross the border?

No, you cannot bring your car outside the origin country unless it is fully paid. That is what happened to me 3 years ago, i decided to leave behind my beautiful honda CRV, hu - hu - hu

I am kind of in the same boat. I want to go to Dubai from Doha, but I am still paying the car loan for my vehicule. Does anyone have information on this, and will I be allowed to travel in this situation? Has anyone done it?

Thanks!

Does anyone know how easy it is to cross the border by car from Saudi to Qatar on a regular basis?

A suggestion for Pinoy58 - sell your car in Dubai, and buy one in Qatar! I just went through the process of bringing my Dubai registered car to Qatar (since i'm now working in Qatar), and in retrospect, it probably would have been better to sell. Part of the problem was that Nissan in Dubai could not locate the papers to prove that customs duty had been paid on my 3 yr old car, so I wound up having to pay a 5% duty in Qatar. If your car is less than a yr old, they say they could have found the paper. And if your car is older than 5 yrs, Qatar won't let you register it.

Allow enough time to get a transit visa. The agency that handles it in Dubai says 2 days, but in fact if you apply on a Sunday, you won't get it any earlier than Wednesday. The agency is in Room 106 in a building accross the street from the Dubai Islamic Bank on Khalid bin Waleed st near Bur Juman.

Good Luck!

Thanks Terramax!

How about my car still under "Car Loan", can i still bring the car to Qatar? What are the requirements to cross the border?

As long as car is registered on your name and you no debt with bank, you can take your car anywhere in GCC. Keep in mind that for a Saudi transit visa they need a copy of car registration and your car plate number will be mentioned in your visa.

I am not sure, however if you can leave your car in Qatar like this, without getting UAE export plates.

Thanks abc150 for that quick reply.

Actually I will be moving to Qatar next month, I'm just reserving my Qatar visit visa for final entry to Qatar. I'm thinking to use UAE visa in the border and then come back to Dubai by plane. Then return to Qatar - cancelling my Dubai visa and final destination to Qatar.

Do they accept UAE resident visa holder to cross there with the car?

Since you have already obtained a visitor visa for Qatar, why do you want to use your UAE residency. Anyhow, it depends on your designation written on your visa whether you are given visa at port. You neeu Saudi visa also. No probelm with the car.
