Troll is somebody who is posting just to be confrontational or to raise hackles. Off late we see lots of Trolls on QL…every hour we have new trolls coming and posting nonsense posts. I agree they are entertaining at times, but sometimes its really annoying and even feel that QL standards are plunging.
It is getting out of control in the social networking community's and gain ground with the bullys and hater starting community's for there own pleasure and this is increasing day by day…Trolling aims to provoke an emotional reaction from those with a short temper. A subtle troll makes some people lose their temper.
Such forums gives us a platform to exchange ideas. The ethic here is that it's best to let everyone have his say, and rely on the good sense of other participants to sort out sound ideas from stupid ones. Which means it all comes down to you.
Many people feel trolls should simply be ignored, and most forums have their own private guidelines to warn off other users. But people think they are entertaining. A post I consider trolling someone else may find it thought-provoking.
Best option is if the person is a well-known troll with low credibility, post once to point out the flaws and then ignore him. If there's a real chance he may fool people who don't know better, knock him down with facts.
In short, you've got two possibilities--ignore the troll or argue with him!!

I moderate two forums, one of which is busier than QL, its amusing to see what people try to do with their multis.

If you agree with the content of this thread; the easiset way is to refrain from posting drivel comments / posts.
This could be possible
1) No more instant connections for NEW Users
2) QL ID's been restricted ONLY to genuine users who provide all personal details and granted active user connection only after two weeks of sincerity as QL user and confirmation of accuracy of details provided.
3) Moral policing is other way but a tedious channel.

Its an open site anyone and everyone can become a member and post... also some members like to get involved with the so called Trolls and some just ignore... I think no harm done so far we know what we want and what not...

A subtle troll makes some people lose their temper"....we have seen certain "NON TROLLS" or should I say regular QLers (may be myself included) also do this quite often by calling names, belittling the other QLers in the name of nationality, religion, gender etc etc...what to do about them??? I think these are more serious ones as they stay among us for a long time.....whereas a troll comes for a purpose and goes...

Trolls post the message, often in response to an honest question, that is intended to upset, disrupt or simply insult the group.
I believe that most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.lol
They do possess quite unusual attitude of disrupting a stable ongoing forum which temporarily gives the illusion of power and stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong too.
For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration unfortunately; their ego grows directly in proportion to the responses, regardless of the form or content of that response. They are egoist and sometimes egotists.
They usually post just enough to get an argument going then sit back and count the responses and/ or continue to dispute claiming that it's a game or joke, how sad do you have to find such a mind-numbingly trivial time wasting indivuduals to be funny?

But we have a choice too, some of us feel its our online birth right to respond to each and every thread and thats how all the problems start in the first place. Agree with FS on this issue. there were a lot of issues about hijacking a few months ago and it got highlighted by FS among others since then the hijacking of threads has gone down considerably.

I feel this site should have a option to ignore a user like in pm's so that they wont see any of their posts anywhere in the site lol and it should be placed under every reply. Ignore User, or a filter to filter out a forum to display only certain user's comments? is that even possible?
