Twilight life of Muslim transsexuals

By flanostu

With her tight jeans, elaborate make-up and flowing hair, Tasha looks for all the world like a striking young woman. But her all-important Malaysian ID card declares she is a Muslim man.

Like many transsexuals in Malaysia, a conservative and mostly Muslim country, the clash between ID card and appearance means Tasha is shunned by employers, and forced to make her living as a sex worker.

Although she is on the margins of society, she continues to perform the Muslim prayers, fasts during the holy month of Ramadan, and respected her mother's wish that she not undergo sex-change surgery.

"Of course I still believe I'm a Muslim, it's just that the religion cannot accept us transsexuals," she says.

"Why can't Islam accept us? We are human beings as well. I am also one of God's creations."

If Qatar had ladyboys I'm sure they'd make a fortune.

Yes they are allowed to live as they are, BUt according to the sunnah of the prophet they were castrated or the bigger circumcision as they (the Intersextuals) called it at the time. They used to pray at the time of the prophet with the women. And they are treated as women not men

And Salax these people are usually more women then men in beaviour and more men then women in looks,

A female friend of mine who was doing a project on social marketing was given an assignment to understand the needs of these people in terms of whatever ( i really dont remember), Anyway there is a strong sense of brotherhood (or sisterhood) among them and they usually travel long distances to live within societys comprising of people of like disabilities. And they have even learned to do the surgeries themselves (this is more so true incases of the Indian Sub Continent community of intersextuals)

Most of the muslim gays here in the middle east are still hiding in the closet coz they are not accepted in their society and haram for their religion.Only few are brave enough to show their true identity.

Although many Muslims today claim that a transsexual should be punished severely, there is no such report from Muhammad's life. In fact, even long after the time of the Prophet (Muhammad), Muslims accepted the mukhannathun in the sacred boundaries of Islam.

'In one case the people brought a mukhannath before Muhammad (s.a.s.) to let them be punished. Muhammad sent the mukhannath away to an oasis out of Madinah. The people then asked: "Apostle of Allah, should we not kill him?"

He said: "I have been prohibited from killing people who pray!", sparing the mukhannath and, even more, accepting them as a fellow praying Muslim.'

SInce eunuchs or mukhannathun as they are described in Islam arent described in the Quran and on the basis of the authentic hadith scholars we have the following ruling for intersextuals

Now Imam An Nawawi says that

"A mukhannath is the one ("male") who carries in his movements, in his appearance and in his language the characteristics of a woman. There are two types; the first is the one in whom these characteristics are innate, he did not put them on by himself, and therein is no guilt, no blame and no shame, as long as he does not perform any (illicit) act or exploit it for money (prostitution etc.). The second type acts like a woman out of immoral purposes and he is the sinner and blameworthy." -

Exiledsaint is just trying to reciprocate what popcorngirl just said in an indirect manner,

Arent u exiledsaint - U clever devil u! oh i meant U clever saint u! :)

Really exiledsaint is that what u believe is the ruling for intersextuals - Man u people need a trumpet for blowing ur own horns!

TRansgender (and i mean Intersextuals) and Homosextuals are two different topics

Bisexuals, Gays and lesbians arent physically challenged

unlike Intersextuals

Intersextuals are the forgotten few who the society looks down upon. Not only here but everywhere throughout the world.

Even in the west no one would like to have a child having sextual preference to his own gender but godforbid he would never ever want a child having a physical sextual disformality (I mean noone ever does)

Popcorn girl tolerance is onething and acceptance is another.

Intersextuals arent mentally challenged, they are either men having female organs or females having male organs

The keyword here - not mental characteristics but physical

Even my officemates were happy to see me wearing an abaya. The one I bought last night from the Souq Asiery was of good cloth for QAR90.00 and one for QAR110 with simple designs on the sleeves.

I'm happy, indeed...

How intolerant Islam is.

What makes the arrogant/ignorant people here think that amongst them they do not have 'locals' that ARE gay OR bisexual?

Transexuals are actually living all the time as the opposite gender and most will pursue surgery if its available to them.

surgery for sex-change. The ayatollahs have recognized some cases as being a type of birth defect and allow it to be "corrected".
