Two lives lost , and for what ?

Do we do these things because life has become too monotonous.. ?

1. THE winner of a bizarre cockroach-eating competition has died after scoffing dozens of the live insects and worms. Edward Archbold became ill and collapsed at the pet shop where the contest took place. The 32-year-old won a python – which he planned to sell to pal - for landing the title on Friday. Reptile store owner Ben Siegel, who ran the contest, said: "We feel terribly awful. He looked like he just wanted to show off and was very nice.”

2. A teenage girl had her stomach removed and 'nearly died' after drinking a cocktail containing liquid nitrogen . Gaby Scanlon had been drinking with friends at a wine bar to celebrate her 18th birthday when she was bought two 'Nitro Jagermeister' cocktails. She downed both drinks in quick succession and very quickly felt unwell. She was rushed to hospital where doctors diagnosed a perforated stomach. The student was said to be 'doing well' after the emergency operation but is set to remain in hospital for some time and will face specialist medical treatment for the rest of her life.

So! Please think before acting..

Britexpat, yes these types of drinks are available here, I have seen them. To be fair this dry ice (liquid nitrogen) is normally in a big glass with a smaller glass at the top with the actual drink in it so you would have to be pretty stupid to drink the dry ice itself.

Should the bar be held accountable? Well that depends on what actually happened. If the drink was made incorrectly and the girl accidentally drank the liquid nitrogen then they should be. If she decided herself she would drink some of it then no.

tcm, I think that Bellary news is bit exaggerated. The boy has lost his finger which was bitten off by the tiger while feeding chocolate to the animal.

the proprietors are s h i tting their pants and hoping the girls gets well.

The problem is that there is no regulation of this substance in the drinks. The sooner the government or the local authorities ban this the better for everyone.

The reptile store owner should definitely be charged, not so sure about the wine bar owners

The second one doesn't sound very nice, although I am not sure if she set out to drink the liquid nitrogen unlike the first guy who set out to ear a load of bugs!

Those drinks with the dry ice are quite popular these days. In fact the wife had one in the new Intercon here a few weeks back. What is supposed to happen is the dry ice is supposed to be in one big glass with a smaller glass with the drink, so you only drink from that glass of course! Will be interesting to see if the bar had made it incorrectly or the girl actually thought "I am going to try some of that"

What happens if we tickle a tigers balls when he is asleep?

By anonymous• 10 Oct 2012 07:41

So far in 2012 we have learnt, do not eat cockroaches and do not drink liquid nitrogen. Before the year is finished I sure we will learn not to tickle a tiger's balls when he is asleep.
