An ‘unbeatable’ jockey robot
An Indian robotics research
engineer has developed in
Qatar a voice command
jockey robot system that will save
racing camels from whipping.
“The objective of my research
was to conserve the traditional
camel race without hurting the
animals,” Mohamed Shakir told
Gulf Times.
The jockey robots currently in
use hit the camels with a polymer
whip in various sensitive areas in
order to make them run faster, he
explained.
A lab engineer for projects
and research at Qatar University’s
Department of Electrical
and Electronics Engineering,
Shakir has earlier worked for
Qatar’s Hejen Racing Committee’s
Raqbi Robot Centre, credited
with the invention of camel
jockey robots.

Kudos to Shakir.
s_isale,
It’s ok.
You'll never see me bashing any nationality.
Maybe individuals or their behavior but never an entire nationality.
Nic, I take back the sarcasm comment. Apologies .
I objected to the other one because there is a chance that it would go the route of bashing nationality, religion, region etc
Rizks...LOL
s_isale,
I was not being sarcastic.
I was just highlighting the fact that it was an Indian's achievement, not a Qatari!
to launch my Dhanno
Hmmm....jacky then crushed green chillies (Old fashioned) will do the work....:(
Abe Rizks... what if its a she-camel?
Can someone explain how this voice command works ?
Camels , like horses need the odd smack to keep them going.
jack the new fashion is to press the marbles hard of the camel so tat it runs like a Road Runner....:)
The old fashioned way..... is to put red hot chili in the camel's exhaust ;)
Nic, there is no need for the sarcasm. Appreciate the guy. Else you will have the whole lot here.
Well done India!
