I need to move to Abu Dhabi with my souped up Pink KIA..

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police seized 2,534 vehicles for driving at dangerous speeds on the internal and external roads of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi; dangerous speeds are defined as speeds above 200 km/hr.

These vehicle seizures took place between January 1 and August 31 of this year, according to Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police.

Al Harithi stressed that there would be no laxity in enforcing the traffic law pertaining to driving at dangerous speeds, participating in races, doing risky stunts such as drifting with vehicles or motorcycles. He noted that public roads are not circuits for racings or doing such stunts; rather they are public roads upon which all users are supposed to abide by the traffic laws.

He warned motorists, especially the younger ones, not to commit any traffic law violations, exceed the speed limit, race, or perform stunts.

He also highlighted that road monitoring has increased through the civil patrols of the Traffic Investigation Section on various roads, in addition to air patrols, which are operated in cooperation with the Air Wing Section at the Abu Dhabi Police.

Al Harithi said that exceeding the allowed speed constitutes a grave danger for road users and further noted that it is one of the main causes of traffic accidents.

In addition to law enforcement, the youngsters need awareness and periodical reminders about the hazards of high speed.

A simple method can be to mechanically auto block the speed limit on each car at 140 max. A Saloon car does not require a speed more than that.

DeadMan.

The speed limit on most highways in Abu Dhabi is 140 kmph, and the camera flashes at 160 kmph. Everyone drives at 150 plus most of the times.

Driving continuously for 200 kmph can be really tiring!

I always think that Abu Dhabi is better state than Dubai. Pretty sensible management overall.

Just imagine how relaxed is the law. They are saying 200Kph is dangerous. Motorists would be better off driving at 180 then if only its not ticketed offense. They seriously need to put a cut off at 140 Maximum rather than 200Kph.
