Venus-Moon Pairing Tonight
" Venus-Moon Pairing Tonight: "Special Treat for Sky-Watchers
This evening at twilight, two universal symbols of beauty will shine together in the western sky, creating a stunning sight for North and South Americans.
a substantial fraction of the world's population will be positioned to see the dark limb of the thin crescent Moon cover Venus, the brightest planet. The occultation starts in the Middle East around sunset or, spectacularly, in twilight. The last region to see the occultation will be India, in darkness just as the Moon and Venus are about to set
The planet Venus, the mythological representation of the goddess of love and beauty, will be seen very near the crescent moon, a night object with its own claims to beauty
According to Occult...the Moon (which is moody) blocks out love (Venus).
So usually people must have a lousy day in spite of trying to make it a good one.
I wonder if I got it wrong.
Thanks qd06!
You can see one of those pics in Gulf Times too...
I saw it by accident also. A friend of mine had just reminded me of the new crescent the day before. I was coming home along E ring last night. The crescent was so bright it caught me off guard. I thought Venus was simply a star. It was so beautiful I wish i had my camera i would have stopped and taken some pics. Thanks Shreeya for the pics.
Act your age not your shoe size
We saw it when Venus was just above the crescent. Amazing how the movement was so fast. Great photos.
mj1627,
I saw it when Venus was reappearing from behind the Moon. Please see the photographs thru the link posted.
Shortly after the huge glowing orange sun dipped below the horizon, we saw the pairing of Venus and the moon quite by accident. It was stunning. One of the most beautiful sites I've encountered in Doha.
That's true. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
