Oh how I've waited long for the iPhone to be officially released in Qatar, and now it is!

You can get the iPhone from any of our Vodafone stores at Landmark Mall, Villaggio Mall, City Center Mall, Al Khor, Lu Lu Hypermarket and Musheireb Street.

I know I know. I've acting all Vodafone right now, but how can you deny the awesome promotion of getting 300MB for FREE until the end of September.

That's 3,000 QR worth of mobile web surfin' so that you can always be on them internets.

Sometimes 3g sometimes Edge full online browsing, its not like AT&T but its good for now i'd rather be able to use my apps and go online then to have a ipod that i can call people on only.

Flex 220

300mb special still running

Works ok I bet it will be better sooner than later.

When a 3g 8gb can be bought online for 1500 riyals on the web why should I pay 1000 more? Just for the one year warranty?

Vodafone is just trying to make a good profit. thats all. and anyway they are selling a product which is more than a year old...

It's mainly sales volumes that dictate unit price. Obviously Voda Qatar bought a bunch of these from Apple, and since the amount they bought is nowhere near what operators in China or Hong Kong did, that is why the phones are so expensive here. If they were selling or expecting to sell tens of millions they would have been cheaper. No secret there, of course the entire scheme is doomed, since we will all just buy from Dubai or elsewhere...they should have thought it through a little better...

because these technology are not made or implemented in Qatar ,, take the example of American cars,, it's way cheaper in America than in here ,, it's the landng coste plus customs/taxes that make these more expensive here,,,, but again it's a gud invetment for Qatar or shud I say qataris.

now you know why petrol is so cheap in Qatar ,,compared to other countries like US,India, philip,,,,

did u know there are even electronics made in japan just meant to be used n japan. it's illegal to ship it or even carry it with u while you travel outside jap. but these are self benificiary tactics,, they sure don't wanna giv it out for free,,

so the maximum advantage of product utility is always from it's pioneer company,, which is definitely in their own country . lucky b#%*€s

Yeah, not a good deal. The models are way over-priced, and there's no data plan, so you're paying QR 10 per MB, once your free MB runs out. QR10 per MB with an iPhone? Coming straight out of your bank account?

This hasn't been thought through AT ALL.

Ngggghhhh. I don't understand why it's so difficult to get technology in Qatar that works and doesn't rip you off.

Too expensive, and I got an Ipod Touch 2G that I've thoroughly "adapted" to my limited budget :D

But nevermind, I see it becoming a status symbol in no time. Lame, highly lame this obsession with devices as disposable as cellphones but whatever. Somebody would say the same about me and cars and bikes (even though I own neither).

@ amnesia

800 is without the contract (buy the phone)

200-300 with contract (buy on installment including paying the bill)

before u jailbreak , you can always backup your contacts, SMS, bookmarks, music , email information(setting),pictures an watever u had in ur phone , just by 1 click in iTunes .

so don't worry about that

themes are always available in Cidya(which is not available until you jailbreak) :b

I think this is your first time to have an iPhone if u don't know this much.

anyways u sound excited ,,

u can get ur iPhone from voda,, its ok,,,

peace

@220v, is that with or without contract in Canada?

Also if you jailbreak an iphone, you cannot update it without it relocked (then you have to rejailbreak which means you lose information and have to wait for an application to jealbreak it which can take months)

Plus even if you get an unlocked iPhone you can still jailbreak it.

@smoke, it's on the facebook page :)

You can buy it sim free unlocked from Apple (which means you can update it without worry of it relocking) with 1 year warranty

(Also thanks for the support ^_^ )

the actual price in Canada for a 3gs 16gb is 800 can. dollars which is 2400 riyals approx,, can be used will anysim after jailbreak+unlock which can be done in 1/2 by any average skilled computer user. so what gud is the vodaphone going to do by selling it for double the price.

plus which is not even jailbroken (which means u will have keep paying for all the gud apps and games ,,if u want them)

so comparively getting one unofficially is cheaper + more flexible usage.

so all u rich ppl out there can ignore this but expense concious ppl shud be aware of this fact.

peace.

I have heard it from another friend as well but I reckon it's just a rumour. There would be a massive campaign when vodafone launches the iPhone. Please post responsibly.
