Hey guys, I thought you would like to know I found the sweet girl this morning......tied to a tree with nylon rope! Untied her, and called Abby's owner. He came a picked her up. Poppy was right, it isn't Abby, but Abby's owner decided to adopt her anyway; either in the hopes of finding her owner (if she has one) or giving her a loving home.
So, it's good news that yet another stray has been given a chance at life, and sad also that it wasn't Abby.
Thought I'd share the lovely news.

Usually microchips are the best form of ID for a pet BUT unfortunately here in Qatar there are only one or two places that have the scanners to read the chips. The databases are also held overseas but can still be be used to trace owners it just takes a while.
If a pet is found it is always best to take it along to the vets (Qatar Veterinary Surgery aka The Animal Care Centre does have a scanner to read chips) just in case.
Currently the Animal Resource Department is looking at our proposal for the EU pet passport scheme, if this is implemented microchips will be a necessary part of the scheme and all pets will have to be chipped and registered, thereby increasing scanning facilities.
QAWS does have an engraving machine for ID tgs, please if you don't already have one contact us - call 528 6335
I actually sent the same pictures to the owner. I had the same thoughts you did as I noticed the markings on her nose, but he insisted that it was her. I have his details, so that if she is found again, hopefully we can reunite them.
PS. This dog has had pups before.

thats amazing to think she is still alive and coping after being on the streets for so long! bless her! I will keep an eye out were not far from that area
I sent the pics of her to the owner. This dog has been missing since last year! By the time I went back to pick her up, she was gone.
Last seen on an empty plot next (to the left) of Al Najma street in the direction of the mall roundabout coming from E ring road. So she was in Old Airport area 45.
Please spread the word. If she is found again, there is a reward offered for her by her owner.

what can i do about a pack of wild stray dogs. and i mean wild, there not friendly, chase cars and when im walking my tow boys they will approach in a very aggressive manner. they have been there for so long and i saw about seven puppies there quite a few months ago. Im just not sure what to do about these guys they seem very wild, there constantly changing pack leader too... rather an aggresive bunch bless them!
Awww, the dog is so sweet! looks quite young, is it friendly?
Although QAWS has officially closed the doors we do have the facility, if anyone finds a poor stray that needs to be rescued they can lease the kennel, just because we dont have the money to take them in doesn't mean they can't come.
If anyone is willing to sponsor this dog, covering it's costs, approximately QR30 a day let me know!!!! People are bringing them and paying 10 days initially, we put the pet on the website and keep our fingers crossed - it's working.....
This is the best we can offer right now but it might help.
this dogs pic somewhere before but i cant think where? How annoying. Poor thing is he with you now? Theres a whole load of stray dogs where i live, a huge pack bless them all, there so wild now they wont come near us, i keep hoping one day i will find there old owners theres some really cute ones there, they seem to be feeding themselves quite well, i hope he finds a home soon, and good for you to look after him, most other people just turn there back. Thanks Gypsy! Unfortunately I can't take any animal out but it'd be nice to go pet the pets and check how I can help : )
OOO, QAWS is kind of hard to find. Here's the site:
http://www.qaws.org/qaws/index2.html
I totally recommend them, we got one of our cats there and he's the friendliest cat I've ever had, with one hell of a personality.
Poppy, Moonbeam, can anyone please tell me where is Qaws?

Sorry to pour cold water on this but please be careful - I don't think it is Abbey.
Please study the photo's carefully.
Abbey is atleast 2 1/2 years old and has had a litter of pups or two!! She also has a white mark on her nose.
I really hope it is but I think this one looks alot younger.
