What do Women think of Men with a Long Beard

habari
By habari

Just wondering, I, myself have a beard, and it's a long beard grown for religious reasons.

No intent of any malice with this question, just a simple question trying to find out people's view on this subject.

By the way, even some American soldiers now want to grow beards. just have a look at this news article: http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/world/2008/11/17/us-troops-question-military-no-beard-rules-in-afghanistan.html

Existence is a heavy burden, only high spirited ones can bear it.

If you've grown a beard for religious reasons, why would you care what other people think?

But generally, if you look like Osama Bin Laden, people's perceptions of you (1st impressions) might be "terrorist", and depending on where you are, you might get into trouble. The reason I say this is that people react to things based on their perceptions and if they are not open-minded, that could endanger your personal safety (or as you are probably more concerned about, women may find it a turn-off). You could change the way you dress, if you think you must, hide the beard or something like that.

/If you're here in Qatar, no issue.

//To answer your question - I personally do not find a man with too much facial hair attractive.

(And I am not a man, contrary to my avatar. Can't change it yet. Did try but no luck)

I love beards. I find them very very sexy. On my husband only! (him being gross just doesn't bother me anymore accept when he picks his ears with his spectacles)

I admit though that our muslim men do not know how to properly take care of their beards and groom them. (hubby included). They should make a grooming law in muslim countries.

mmm Whats up with the lack of deodarant by some expats in Qatar? Do you guys just use talcum powder or something?

Well.. I don't know about other girls but personally speaking, I don't like men with beards.. I mean I would never fantasize about a man having a long beard because I would know that he is a religious man and I would give him all due respect but when it comes to getting married, I would like to get married to a clean shaved man.. A chikna chokra I mean.. But please do not get me wrong.. I am a Muslim and I respect all religious men and women.. If you are a religious man and you have kept a long beard for religious reasons, then you better find a good Muslima as your wife.. A woman who covers from head to toe and probably her face too.. A religious Muslima would accept the beard with all her heart. May Allah bless you with a good woman. Aameen

Hmm, most muslim men are extremely clean, I think the people you are referring to as being a bit ripe are the poor guys who dont have access to showers and proper toiletries as their first priority is being able to eat. This has no religious bounds, it is more of a financial issue. I know you will say a bar of soap only costs a few riyals but these poor chaps dont even have access to properly wash their clothes. Given the choice between a bar of soap and a bag of bread I would imagine they would choose the bread hands down.

That's what the UN, US & Islam enemies say. Thats also what they aim to put in the minds of the ppl around the world. So, they bring in mentally retarded ppl & make them grow beards. Let them say ALLA WA AKBAR & cut ppl in to pcs. Which finally ended up that any LON G BEARD person wearing SHORT "THOBE" are considered TERRORIST.

Ther are plenty available at carefoure and lulu. However, you have to keep it nice and tidy, broom and groom it. Also when you do your ablution for prayer, you have to make sure the water has contact with your skin, so it has to penetrate the beard, meaning that you have to wash it every time you do ablution for prayer. So it is always kept clean and tidy and not like a hill billy

Anything under limit looks nice. One of the gentleman, I remember was the neighbour in one of my workplace & I am damn sure it was half meter long. Although that guy was a bit religious but this way he is / was promoting wrong impression about Islam. As far as I understand Islam urges on cleanliness to such an extent that it makes half of your faith & beard in Islamic teachings should not exceed more than the size of your hand (correct me if I am mistaking). So, half meter of beard would turn any person off :) but tidy stuff is admired by all. For me, if I feel either it is grown:

2. Religious reason

I dont particularly like the beard really long but facial hair on a man, if kept tidy, is nice.

I always wonder how hard it is to keep the long beard clean. Do you shampoo and condition it everytime you shower like your head hair (I am not being stupid, I am interested to know this).

I saw a guy brushing his long black beard with a hair brish the other day. Seems very high maintenance.

A very strange question indeed.

You have grown the beard for "religious reasons".. Good for you, so you should not worry about what others think about it.

Others grow them for personal reasons - again its their choice..
