Sammie,

Who is gonna Stop anyone from chatting?? Chat to your hearts desire...We shall all stick to the thread..because its not fair to the person who started the thread and who is seeking a specific information....What anyone did last night is not others concern until they know where it is..and they want to join in that chat...

In fairness that was started up by Koby who we all know, has nothing nice to say about anyone! I was pointing out that if you just set up a site then the number of memebers will not be high at all!

This website is a different thing to different people

1. information site

2. To find friends

But i will say that you can not make friends if you are not allowed to chat in QL!

In all fairness the event and its immediate consequence shall be read together..The feelings in the aftermath is important..Abusive mother toungue...That fact that this website sucks to a few..the moment someone leaves on his own accord..

I knew it was a long one! And now I do believe it.

It's the same old Qatar Living but now much more in line with what it's supposed to be.

I don't believe I have ever said anything disrespectful (except to venom of course) I just noted it was lame that QL has an error and Koby uses it as a plug for advertising in the thread. I also said move on to everyone about members leaving.

I like QL because it has loads of info that those of us living in Qatar probably would have never found out until maybe 6 years from now (when advertising is introduced here). We like to help newbies, and share info and experiences. It helps others and it helps ourselves. Also, we love to have discussions on topics members find significant (and those that don't like the topic or find it dull--well they don't post). We, the members on this site, have had mutual respect for one another with a few fire-crackers.

Seriously don't get personally offended it's a website just for fun and info, and nothing more.

To the People of Qatar Living,

Two weeks ago I said I was leaving and never posting again, and I meant it. I did not do so because I was angry at Xena or anyone else; Xena had nothing to do with my or anyone else leaving. I did so because I knew our banter was getting a little irritating to some people on this site.

Since than the comments regarding myself and my friends written on this forum have been the most disgusting, petty and immature comments that I have ever read on this site. Far worse than any of the jokes and banter any of my friends shared.

QatarCat is so disgusted that she is deleting all the posts she has ever written. According to the people on this site, that won’t be a great loss anyway.

We were told to “get our own room and we did, we agreed with sticking to threads and tried, sometimes we got carried away, we apologized. We have not dissed this site, in fact we have promoted it on Qatar Blah Blah.

I never heard anyone complaining when we told Sandie off for making fun of Aisha, or for being her usual rude self. I don’t recall ever being rude to Novita 77 and I believe I left before ESL teacher even began to post. Anything said to TG was said in debate and he gave as well as he got.

Give it up, it’s sad, it’s bitter and it doesn’t make QL look very good. We have apologized. Perhaps it is time to move on with your lives and the wonderful new QL you have.

LOL. Figured out what happened to the post "The Pope and His Comments"

After hours of rummaging thru logs (ok, maybe not hours, but a number of stressful minutes), I stumbled upon the truth. A log entry for the delete command. It turns out I had overlooked the fact that the originator's of posts (in this case a user known as 'venom') have the permission to delete their own forum topics, and unfortunately taking along with it everybody's discussion.

Thus explaining why I couldn't find the post at all.

These are the preliminary findings, I will discuss the particular log entry with my fellow admins to give final concluding remarks.

Yeah,

It gets a post every few hours..We are in Qatar because we have work to do and our work is important enough to require our undivided attention...

You can always post every two mintues with your active sex life...Anyone with a score of 600 posts in four days with "I am bored" in every third line is certainly into interesting conversations...

I have no interest in talking about who left and why and how..but its a group of hypocrites..who behave decent on this site and then bad mouth us everywhere else in their colourful mother toungue...who want to bring that "boring" discussion again...You have just been told off somewhere I guess...Get freaking again..

with the "ignorant bullcrap", koby. Let me remind you of your post on Sept 13:

Your English is a baby? Your English is sh*t. This site sucks now. What is there a post every 30 mintutes now? Fun stuff.

Make your mind up, is it every 30 minutes or 2 or 3 hours?

Click away from this site. That's what a mouse is for, not just the cats and cheese. You won't be missed.

"Qatar Living is a diverse and rich forum, just look at the topics"

That gets a post every 2 or 3 hours. Yes, that's happening. That's filled with people who have no idea what they are talking about and just spew out ignorant bullcrap. Yes, it's a great site.

Advertising agin, are we?

This is what koby had to say on the blah: "They deleted the Pope's Comments on QL, bringing in an era of censorship. SO I've posted the blah blah link on QL again. Hopefully more people will see the light."

(Then this conversation ensues:

Koby: You need someone to advertise for you. This place is boring."

blah administrator: You mean Blah is boring?

koby: No. You are boring. As in Y-O-U The ugly chick that looks like a cat. Of course I meant Blah BLah is boring. It's Blah!

administrator: Koby how could it be boring with you here? ;D

And if I am an ugly chick that looks like a cat then you are a gender confused sk8r punk.

Martin (guest): I agree with Koby. It is boring. Only about 6 people here.

koby: Who asked you Martin)

Wow, koby, how about that for free speech!

Koby, blah is blah. It's a forum started by disgruntled ex-QL members who hijacked people's threads and filled them with page upon page of utter uselessness. Which is what they're blahing about now, hundreds of post by 4 or 5 members.

Qatar Living is a diverse and rich forum, just look at the topics.

I continue to have faith in Qatar Living. I'm sure many have visited blah but few have elected to join. I wonder why!

Qatarite's explanation is good enough for me.

Keep us posted qatarite.

Use some common sense, there have been waaaay more pervocative statements on QL than the Pope thread. Honestly, I don't remember anything on it that would require it's removal, it was a heated discussion sure, with some dumb statements. We have certainly seen bigger idiots than venom who were not censored and quit honestly I don't think it was censored. The site has been having some issues read the "latest posts" and I think that may be the culprit.

None of the moderators of QL have deleted the thread as far as I know.

I am trying to see what happened to it.

Just as I point of note, normally when there are people insulting each other (name calling) only then have posts been either blocked or 'unpublished'. Unpublished means that it remains on the site but invisible to all but the moderators. Currently I can't find the thread even myself, so there has been some foul play by the system (yaay blame the system).

Anywho, I'll post up updates to this problem as soon as I have some.

Apologies.

You can put stupid ads for fake Nokias and marriage proposals but you cannot discuss the pope. Butterfly and e46, you at least should know better than that I think.

Yeah big surprise some people started their own forum www.qatarblahblah.com At least there you can discuss whatever you want and nobody bites anyone's head off. Of course QL is the best place to find info if you want to know how to bring your family member to Qatar or compare compounds, but for actual discussion it sucks.

I'm very dissapointed to see that posts is deleted from this site. To know that some people like venom has that kind of atitude/thinking is very usefull to me and also scaring me if a lot of people has similar way of thinking like venom.

I don't understand why people can act that far to burning a church, killing innocent people as a reflect from what pope said. For me in malaysia we don't have problem with christian (my problem is only on some world leaders), i also have many christian friend (indian, chinese etc), and they don't have anything to be scared in malaysia where most of us is muslim.

Pope totaly making a huge mistake by his speech, and something like this cannot be repeated.........because it hurting us

Venom maybe have a right to angry for what is happen, but just remmember one thing, war at palestian is happen for a long time. All the people that world 'claim' as a terrorist now is still a kid 20 or 30 years ago, they maybe saw their family burned alived and been shot by israel, and told me what kind of human would not affected by that kind of life.

All the people in palestian, afganistan, iraq, lebanon etc, they don't need bush or blair to help them, but they need support from people around them, we maybe did't like for what happen on palestain or iraq leadership conflict right now, but i would choose saddam and mahmoud abbas rather than bush/blair.

my view.........

I'm saddened by the post gone missing...Sure, some of us find it hard to express our views in a civilised manner and things can get a little out of hand...Some comments were unacceptable. But other comments were very valuable indeed. And what I liked about QL was its open mindness and respect to freedom of expression.

What a shame.

There's no doubt some of the comments were inciteful to hatred and ignorant.

An explanatory note should've been posted by whoever deleted it instead of doing it on the sly.

Other forums also have a thread lock which this doesn't.

However whether it's too controversial or offensive should be explained.

If the idea is for Qatar Living to be off-limits to politics and reserved for rosy, light and mundane matters then it should be made clear.
