What is the right thing to do

when we are coming back from offices either from Alkhor, Dukhan or from Mesaieed, in the hot afternoons people are standing on the road side and asking for lift, what one should do.

If on the humanatarian ground and looking at the weather condition one should help or not ??

If helps the unknown consequences are :

1. Police may catch us saying we are illegally doing taxi business.

2. If some accidents or some thing happens to the persons we have to face legal matters.

3. If that persons turns out to be a crook, then again a proble.

So what is the right thing to do, one should help or not ??

Please advise.

I would have helped him/her out..Better ask him/her to show the ID..I think that would be enough..

I no longer agree with exiledsaint. Homosexuals with drinking problems are very common in this area. But serial killers on top of all that? Come on!

Follow what Brit said above.

Pick up the guy if you are 100% sure that he is healthy and will not have a heart attack while in your car. Otherwise you'll be held for questioning. Happened to a guy in Kuwait and he almost ended up getting into a mess.

I personally pick up people if it's day time and if I know there is no bus coming in that route but my case is different. I love to take calculated rizks.

If you can and you feel comfortable with it, pick them up. There's no harm.

I think many feel uncomfortable to do so because of fear of car jacking or robbery, but I highly doubt that would actually happen here.

My colleagues used to stop and pick up those guys asking for lifts because it's the right thing to do, to help them. Transportation is very expensive and they help where possible.

I don't, not because I don't want to help but because I almost always drive alone, and being female, I only give lifts to guys I know eg. colleagues and friends.

Remember no good deed goes unpunished. The man you may pick up maybe a serial killing homosexual with a drink problem. You will get 1 year in jail for aiding murder, 5 years for homosexuality and 10 years for associating with a known drinker.

Its best to report these men to the police and say they looked at your sister in a funny way.

By giving some caps if they are not wearing,or some water to drink while waiting,no one can stop you doing this service.

Why risk eating? One may die of choking.....

hms, do what you feel is right for you. We can't tell you what is right or wrong for you. Its for you to decide.

Hard one this...but there will always be somoeone that needs a ride or lift and you cannot do this for everyone...imagine if everyone stopped at the side of the road to pick up people for a disaster it would be and then again you have the responsibility if something happens and the risk that they may harm you or something...

LOL.. funny people thinking of excuses for not helping others. Simply accept that there is no humanity in you and be done with it. Why these excuses.. Maybe to feel good about yourselves.

It is better not to do it. I recall a case in Saudi wheer a guy gave someone a lift. He had an accident and had to pay compensation to his passenger..

It's hard, but the laws here make it difficult to give someone a lift, no matter how much you may want to.

Nice question fellow...but never intend to pull-over and pick them ride with you. Remember maybe police will catch you, and in any accident they are your responsibilty too! So better not, and stay away from any trouble.
