Following on from the postings regarding Qataris marrying foreign wives..

A survey conducted on 100 single women aged between 18 and 24 showed that 50 percent of them were ready to marry rich men as old as their fathers, Al-Watan daily reported.

The report said half the women surveyed preferred an older, richer man because “they are morally and financially ready to handle the responsibilities of a house and wife.”

Thirty percent of women preferring old men said they did not trust younger men while 20 percent said older men “treat women with maturity and respect”.

Seventy-five percent of those surveyed said they prefer a rich man, according to the survey.

Sara Badi, an 18-year-old high school student, told Al-Watan: “I cannot live with a man who depends on a job salary only, because I don’t believe in the idea that two people need to build their future together.”

Rawya Sharaf, a 20-year-old university student, said she would not marry a man who could not provide “a dream house, diamonds, honeymoon in one of the international capitals and a maid and driver”.

I suppose we'll never understand women..

but the worst thing is when they got "security and some rich old codger", they get bored pretty soon and start looking for "all the wishy-washy stuff"...

Although, vice-versa...:(

people are just looking for whatever/whoever is missing in their lives....you know..'everybody looking for something'...

The security I can see. It's hard dating a young guy because they are so flighty and always ready to bolt at the first sign of trouble.

So after all the wishy-washy stuff, it seems that most women want security and a rich old codger offers that!

Its all about security

Money does not assentialy provide that,

What if there is suddenly no money,

" I want a divorce" say she...

Come on , be realistic,

For good and for bad,

That is the remedy of a sucsesful and ever lasting love and mariage

I might be poor in the pocket, yet rich in the heart

and with the love and support of the spouse, all is just great...

definitely the older man, by life experience I can say this, but as for rich, nah, he could live in a mud hut and have nothing but my feelings wouldn't change :)

If everyone could choose to marry for wealth and security they would. Only problem is wealth is scarce and security can be fleeting.
