I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of falling. I'm not scared of the dark, I'm scared of what's in it. I'm not afraid of love, I'm afraid of not being loved back.

Indian Singer S.P Balasubramaniam (SPB). He started his career in 1966. He has rendered over 36,000 songs in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam (Indian)languages.
He holds the Guinness record for the most number of song recordings by a male singer.
he always sounded like he was on his deathbed, an unmistakable crooner, it's a shame he had the worst damn arrangements in the history of popular music...I'm Your Man was a hideous album only he could have pulled off...anyone else would have wrecked their career on such a disasterpiece.
Even when Lara pauses in between lyrics as she draws her breath, she makes it sounds like music.
Her expressions when preforming are that of an actor 'in characer' & appear as though she's living the passionate story in the lyrics she's singing, specifically Caruzo.
I't not just her fabulous voice either, it's also her special tempo that adds so much more to what is essentially a classic that couldn't have been improoved before she came along and did just that.
You need only compare her with other preformers to see what I mean.
I would have to say he is unknown, as in I don't know his name, but I can describe him and the song.
A few years back (more than I care to mention :p) My family & I were dining al fresco in Sherm ilsheikh, when it was fashionable then.
There was a singer who was entertaining us in a non-descript sort of way, then this group of what I would assume were Italians stirred with encouragement and made a request of the band and house singer, not just for music but that one of them get up and sing it himself.
A tan man, small in stature perhaps in his late 20's, made his way towards the stage & began to preform the riveting Caruzo.
Admittedly it was the 1st time I ever heard it, but I can honestly say it was perhaps the most haunting song I have ever heard.
Beneath the stars and infront of the small audiance incluing myself, stood this small man lost in an entralling song that filled the night air with a huge passionate voice and presence.
I had no idea what the Italian lyrics were, or what they meant, and at the risk of sounding silly, it felt as though I understood the songs language that appeared to transcend the borders of known translation.
I was too shy to complement him then, in a way I regret that, but I still probably wouldn't have been able to do that today either =)
I've never discussed this, let alone write it down, so let's consider it my homage in tribute to the unknown artist who preformed Caruzo.
Caruzo can be heard in this link
&feature=PlayList&p=30BD2ED111E19985&index=1
But be warned it's been 'Grobanized' by Josh Groban .
Ive posted a more desreving rendition of Caruzo in my post below preformed by Lara Fabian. Enjoy!
Mediocre Performance by Groban. I think he was more focused on perfecting his Italian, which sounded a bit off to me. He'd rather stick to his "You raise Me Up".
Hands down, old Ronnie is THE voice of Heavy Metal, the tiny Italian-American that could, he's lost it lately though, his range is a pale shadow of his former glories, but he's still better than Ozzy...
and others, the list is long, I like
Leonard Cohen
Nick Cave
Howlin' Wolf
Yeah all men of the gravel throat, but if we're gonna talk vocal skills, few can match the late great untouchable, inimitable Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, now that guy could smash glass houses...what a voice, volume & range and bell like clarity...and endurance too! Ghazals were never quite the same...
Azeri singer Alim Qasimov is also quite the throatmaster, vibrato from another world...he did a duet with the late Jeff Buckley...I also like the Tuvan throat singers...lotsa weird stuff really :)
I don't have a favorite singer, but I like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion. But I like A LOT of songs by random singers. It all depends on my mood.

- As Long As it Matters
Gin Blossoms
How can I find something
That two can take
Without stumbling as we
Walk into our future's wake
I'm like a broken record
That you can play
Repeating as if it matters
Everything I want to say
I'll be all right
As long as it matters
As long as you're here with me now
Forget that time
It's nothing we touch and see
All this is fine
Even as it crashes down on me
I'm looking around
There's nothing that I could want
More than to tell you
There's no more than we've already got
I'll be all right
As long as it matters
As long as you're here with me now...
Forget that our time is almost up I'll be all right...
DON'T LET FANTASY ROB YOU OF YOUR REAL LIFE BEAUTY

Disbelief in magic can force a poor soul into believing in government and business.
I like Roy Orbison's singing style.
and I like Englebert Humperdinck very much!
Leonard Cohen is nice. But very inanimate.
It's nice hearing Pavarotti sing.
But seeing him sing gives me pain in my lungs too!

They sang "ALL MY LIFE".
It was our wedding song. hehe
"Failure is imminent, but I will still do my best..."
Andrea Bocelli sometimes sounds nice to my ears. But Italian singers sometimes make me anxious about their lungs bursting like the songbird in Shrek.
I would have to say he is unknown, as in I don't know his name, but I can describe him and the song.

Frank Sinatra was nicknamed "The Voice". I have to agree, he was a hell of a singer. Still, it doesn't mean he is my favorite.
