It also helps to check an individual's integrity, loyalty and honesty.

It is NOT easy, I agree. But then, it's easier than refusing or losing your money

Lent to a friend or a relative;

It is NOT easy to ask for a cheque or a promissory note; to embrass the borrower; who is actually describing to pay for Rent, medical bills or lost huge amount in Share market and will return in couple of days.

My ADVICE to all- If u really want to help someone in need just help the person with amout u can give and forget about it for example if personal is asking u for 3000 give him/ her 1500 or 1000 and deep inside just think its gone for good... if it suppose to come back then he is true friend, if person doesn't return u the favour then its better not to trust the person ever again,try not to get hurt by your mistakes, trusting some1 and the person lieing to you hurts alot...

Just because one guy didn't return it, it doesn't mean I am gonna stop helping my friends if I can.. We loan out money to friends all the times back home and everytime it is returned.. I myself borrowed heavily during some tough times a few years back and cleared it as soon as I could.. Maybe people are more honest back home.

You will meet alot of people who took advantage of your friendship. One friend advised me "never involve money in a friendship" And I must agree w/ her...sometimes lending money to a friend w/ your intentions to help can be the cause of your misunderstanding when the other party(borrower) got sick of "amnesia" :D

Whenever somebody who ask for money and in crisis; the chances of getting money back are least.

I generally check where I stand at that point of time; whether I could assist.

Unfortunately, I lent money to my two friends and they both are just giving me future promises and now I am in a situation that I could not help anybody :(

Rebel, its not curiosity but wanting to be safe from same situation. Whoever it is, we have got the message. Never lend money to anyone.

Yep, I get the same....next week, next week, now it's been 6 months. There's always an excuse...a cheque the bank wil approve, or some medical emergency.

We help them not because we have too much money to throw around, but out of sympathy, humanity, because we think what if we were in that same difficult situation. Hope they understand's that when he takes someone's hard earned money, it's become his responsibilty to return it....

as you said we give money out of sympathy.... trying to help this person....

but the reality is that they are making a fool of us....

and then comes a time when a real sincere friend comes asking for help and due to previous experiences we deny his or her request....
