why people convert to islam??

I have to agree with PM on the simplicity of the faith

some of the fundamental aspects of Islam are beautiful in their simplicity

The simplicity of Islam poses a lot less 'Existential Questions' :-)

Also Islam has a logical continuity with other religions that originated in the Middle East

u dont have to cover ur head or do what others want u to do or i dont know how they are blaming u. believe me this doesnt only happen to u in the world. women born muslim also have these troubles. that is bec of lack of education in this side of the world.

and trying to understand islam.. who did that?:) i didnt. there is no such perfect system for anything on this earth so just act the way u r happy. i dont practise most of the things in islam and sometimes i am really against islam but i still define myself as muslim. and this has nothing to do with others..

and yea. focus on islam. and some on u not on muslims. cuz here i really really started getting out of islam bec of people around me:)

A basic story of my experience is that you start off as an atheist.

Then you try the idea of finding the truth and you find yourself researching.

obviously you are influenced by peers to some extent, but in the search for some substance in life.. you get drawn to Islam!!! coz it gives proper answers to life.

Study and compare religions, learn their phisophies, use logic, reasoning and then decide which one to go for.

The word one who changes his/her religion to Islam is Revert not convert I suppose..thnks

agrees with ya jauntie, my ex bro in law was a catholic then converted to islam (thru yusof islam) then married my sis then after which he renounced the religion to become a buddhist and he still aint found wat he is lookin for....

I think people who either change their religion or FIND religion or ditch religion altogether, do so because they are searching for answers in their life which they haven't found in their exisitng lifestyle.

I met a Muslim the other day who was considering becoming a Buddist.

Basically the choice a person makes, whether to embrace a religion or discard ANY or ALL religion, has to do with a need to 'find oneself' (I don't really like that expression, but couldn't think of any other!)

and a way of life which one feels comfortable with.

Converting to another religion because of marrying into that religion is probably more to do with bringing up the children within that marriage. Easier if you are both reading from the same hymn book, as the say.

I guess - each person who changes his faith has got different reasons or motivations that led them to this decision. Some of them are due to bf/gf. But - they are only some of the cases. In many cases - I think its when a person finds the faith more appealing to them and being able to find answers to their questions about life and the purpose of us being here. THere are a few who change the faith as they feel more secure.. some others who find it logical and well reasoned. There could be many other reasons also..
