Does anyone read books anymore?

Does anyone read books anymore?

In today's world, where the most part of our day is spent in front of some screen or another-be it, a laptop, mobile device or tablet-on social media, watching videos or working, we seem to have lost touch with the real world.

Most of our day is spent reading and replying to texts, e-mails and social media messages, so much so that the new generation has almost completely stopped reading-and by reading, I mean books.

People don't read enough nowadays, they don't stimulate their brain enough, and believe me, having grown up in a generation that thrived on reading books, I am disappointed.

The joy of plunging deep into the depths of a good read and emerging with more knowledge of the world, feelings and emotions, perhaps some that we didn't even know existed, is one that only someone who has lost themselves in a book can comprehend.

The knowledge that reading a good book will stimulate our mind to understand different perspectives and benefit our mental and physical health, is something that only an avid reader can understand.

The delight we feel when we turn the pages of a thoroughly gripping book and wonder what we would have done in a similar situation helps build our personality and character, and is something only someone who escapes into this world can grasp.

So, if you haven't read a book in a long time, want to take up reading now, or want your children to grow and develop in more ways than one, it's time to visit the 27th Doha International Book Fair at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center running up until December 10, 2016.

You can buy all kinds of books, in Arabic or English, for yourself and for your children, and read to your heart's content.

This is true people nowadays prefer visual aids rather than reading the entire article.

Nabeela is perfectly right, I agree with her. .... but very few people have time to read although they spend much time in the gossip.

How true. I remember the first time my Cuban Shotputter read to me excerpts from "History Will Absolve Me" - I was mesmerised and experienced feelings I hadn't felt before !!
