Marco, you are ,IMHO, comparing apples and oranges. A bodily function in this case pregnancy, due to the existence of organs in one person but not the other, has nothing to do with what a person can accomplish due to the will/brain they have.

NM: what a person can or cannot do is not gender specific.

Woman has a womb, gets pregnant, and carries a child for 9 months. And then she has to breast feed her baby. Man cannot do any of that. Still think it's not gender specific?

It's interesting, I've been reading up on women in combat now, and it seems that many Western military's already allow women in combat roles, and they've done exceptionally well. It's been noted that especially in places like Afghanistan and Iraq they are able to coordinate with the local female populace in a way men were never able to, therefore allowing them access to places and information the military's previously didn't have.

Also, check this woman out:

Tinks, as I said before, what a person can or can not do is not gender specific.

And the "certain role " thing, I do think this is ,in most cases, cultural.

Too lazy to read all the comments or the article.. Just a quick question tho...

Is there a debate going on women vs men AGAI.... (Yaawn, slept while typing)

Well, to get serious here. There is something that we, women , must not forget either.

There are , in fact, women who like to be treated like "wrapped lollipops"...they like when men do things for them that they are capable of doing, but do not want to do.

And they take what other women would call discrimination and belitteling to keep what makes then feel comfortable. Now, this is not my cup of tea, but we must accept and respect those women's wishes /lifestyle.

And men have to understand that what is one woman's candy is another woman's poison.

By nomerci• 23 Oct 2012 14:24
nomerci

Tinks...that is confusing now...I have seen a male in the food court in a shoping center do exactly this...being fed by the maid and having his chin wiped...and no he was not a baby, he was about 15 years old...does this prove that men and women are not that different after all?????

And if the second woman wrote an article saying that the front line is a great place for women?

I think you're missing my point. She's one woman in many, she's one opinion in many.

By MarcoNandoz-01• 23 Oct 2012 14:13
MarcoNandoz-01

Miss Mimi: That’s exactly my point. Major Judith Webb being THE FIRST WOMAN MODERN HISTORY, to command an all-male field forces squadron in the British Army. She is telling you front line combat is not for you.

By MarcoNandoz-01• 23 Oct 2012 14:10

Mimi: Well, it maybe that, the mail hates women, but Major Judith Webb being the first woman to command an all-male field force squadron in the British Army. she seems to be the walking, talking, living dream of what many women want to achieve by joining the army.

She has a living witness to women's presence in the army.

She has seen it all and lived it all.

she is living statement of how, delusional modern society can be, when we think it's women can pick up arms and fight on front lines.

TB/NM: No one is saying men are better than women, or that women are incapable of doing stuff.

All i'm saying is, women & men are equally Different.

What a man can do, a woman may not be able to do it, equally what a woman can do, a man may not be able to do it.

Men and women must realize their respective equal roles and strive to complement each other in their shared struggle to improve life.

both man and woman must realize their respective equal roles and strive to complement each other in their shared struggle to improve life.

She is one woman MN, not every woman that commanded a troop in field, and she was the first, so she obviously had it tougher.

If a man (and many have) came back from leading a troop into war and said that nobody should ever have to go to war again ever, cause war is bad, and people aren't cut out for it. I would take what he said as one voice and opinion in many, as you should Major Judith Webb.

By nomerci• 23 Oct 2012 13:56

Marco, I'd like to take this a step further. It is the individual man or woman who can or can not do certain things. Capabilities of people are not gender specific.

Ok, first off the Daily Mail hates women and I refuse to take anything women write for it seriously.

Secondly, it's all well and good she's got her opinion, but it's no different than many male soldiers who go to the front lines all excited and happy and then find out "crap, war sucks, nobody should have to do this." Just because she couldn't hack it, doesn't mean other women can't.

Miss mimi: Well, it may not be fashionable but it's time that society accepted the simple fact that women are different.

From the mail online, By MAJOR JUDITH WEBB.

She is Major Judith Webb was the first woman to command an all-male field force squadron in the British Army. She retired in 1986 and became headmistress of an independent girls' school in Somerset. She now runs a children's nursery.

Oh Bull. I'm not super-woman. I was physically fit, and any woman (or man) who puts there mind to it can get into the same physical condition quite easily. Especially if they are forced to by the job their in.

Every woman I know in the military (and I know quite a few from my time in South Korea) is very physically fit, perfectly capable of carrying & firing weapons and many are highly trained in hand to hand combat, as well as traditional combat.

Your argument is nonsense Marco. When I applied to the Military I beat out all of the men but one in the health assessment. I ran faster and longer, I did more pull ups, I lifted heavier weights. At the time I was 5'7 and about 125 lbs. While I may have looked tiny I was incredibly physically fit because I did a minimum of 2 1/2 hours a day in the gym.

They actually tried to get me to change to artillery from communications, because they wanted someone as fit as me closer to the front.

If you read the article , It's not about proving.. It's about the other dimension that women bring to the role.... something they are better at than men..

Ofcourse, there is the other side. Our own perception. It has been poven that the public is less likely to accept the death of a female soldier than a man..

TB: Totally AGAINST! like TOTALLY!!

And for a few good reasons too.

1-The average woman is not up to the physical/mental stress of life on the front line fighting as C.A.S.!

2- physiology SPEAKING - there are a lot of women out there that suffer at that particular time of the month from severe stomach cramps/pain (psychological problems and stuff) which would literally render them as ineffective

3-There are some super-women out there, who can and do beat men in a physically, but these are few and far between.

TB: If a woman can pass the physical and educational tests, for a particular military occupation, they can apply, and if they complete the course, it means they are qualified to be on the field. However, in reality that’s not the case.

Because.

A- . There are plenty of qualified males volunteering for such tasks. So there is no need for women there now.

B- Women are different physically than men and most females can't make it through the training.

C- Cheers!

Women were historically used as weapon in war either way I mean by their own people at the beginning and by their enemies at the end.

Systematically, before or during the war women were used for killing enemies with their lusty weapon and after war they were raped and forced to conceive a baby of their own enemy to destroy or disintegrate the opposition...

Well first of all women soldiers are allowed in combat situations, but not as C.A.S.

My thought is women should not be allowed in the Infantry. Artillery, etc traditional combat with arms and s*it! And for good reasons too.

A- It’s a lot of strenuous labor and the physical standards are too tough even for men.

B- Even ( Just for mere argument sake ) if we like to imagine that there are women out in the army who are strong enough to meet the physical standards required for C.A.S, chances are that there wouldn't be enough of them to justify their deployment on the ground..
