Women running outdoors

Can anyone comment on the social acceptability of women running outdoors for fitness? I enjoy running outdoors for fitness (early morning or evening or cooler months) but would like to know how this is viewed by local Qatari people. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thank you!

I have never tried the stadium. There is a long path around all the fields and there are usually no other people there. Makes a pleasant change from the wonders of the Corniche.

I want to know if we can use the swimming pools?

You should wearing just a training pants and tshirt would be fine. Won't advice you wear a short ... :-) You might feel it uncomfortable people staring at you.

You can run anytime during the day ... but in the summer most people doing the walk just after 3pm when the sun cooling down a bit.

And don't worry ... people wont comment anything ... plenty of them doing it in the corniche.

Thanks for your comments. What about running attire for women? If I wear running shorts and a t-shirt is that okay or is it better to wear longer pants? What kinds of comments would people make? Laughing? Or would they say rude or offensive things? Do most women run/walk in the early morning or after dark? When I lived in Indonesia women would run/walk at 4:30-5am.

Ivanhoe you mean on the astro-turf tracks? or outside the stadium?\

It would be great if one could use the stadium tracks.

We see women running around the 2006 Asian Games grounds all the time. Although they are usually in Abayas - but there are few people there and it is very green, for Qatar that is. Take a drive around the back of Villagio and check it out. You should be fine there.

You're very lucky to have the chance to run along the corniche.

I live in Ras Laffan, and I could just run in the desert !!!

However, Be careful to not overtake a Qatari too fast...he could be angry, lol

Bye

Take your mp3 player, plug the earphones in your ears, and go run along the corniche.

on the Corniche and you will know. It is ok and there is not nothing wrong with it, just ignore the silly remarks that you might hear while enjoying your running. Better if you can listen to music during your jogging course, that might help.

Best Regards
