I saw that awful Sedar ad this evening (gag, puke). Fubar is right! the hound on that infuriating woman's shirt switches back and forth. I hadn't noticed it before (I hadn't been paying much attention to her chest). One of the screaming mistakes to me is the name of one of their ranges which flashes on the screen - 'Antartica'. Surely it is meant to be 'Antarctica' with 2 'c's?
Well tbh lmao, for such a crap add, it sure gets alot of attention... and any attention is good attention lol.
I think they have made enough from this add blitz to hire a helicopter and chase a sports car down the corniche... Just as the Helicopter is about to crash (Due to the Oryx Coming to life and throwing his Fire torch into the Cock pit- Tragic... i know)
The Pilot Could then say some BS about Sedars Curtain... i dunno. "walla eet eez Curtanz for me... but only sedars"
KABOOM!!!
then the police can surround the scene with sedars Curtains..
Do we all remember 'Ana Marco Polo'? Or that ever-so-friendly Japanese woman from Fujikawa....
At least now I know I won't encounter many difficulties when chosing window coverings for my clients. And even though in the past I used to think their prices were high, now I know they are very reasonable. And their guarentees are 100% genuine.
One of the latest 'Sedar' adverts features a Bahraini actress unable to focus on her lines saying to herself: "Owesome curtains. Of course, they're by Sedar".. Seconds later she wonders: "Where are these curtains from?"
tbh the worst adds are on the sudanese channel BNTV, omg those ppl compose a song for every single thing, be it a juice bottle, detergant, sausages etc....
I think the production company that made the QA ads surely must have played a trick on them, because they are so clearly wrong.
There are two I mean in particular, and each is played over and over (and over and over).
The first is the one where the chef is cooking, and the voice over says it’s “726 layers”. 726? Wtf? I mean, seriously, W.T.F.?? It’s an appetizer, and they want us to believe it has 726 layers??? Don’t make me laugh.
And the other is the silly ad for the premium terminal when we are told it’s “36 to 38 degrees; no higher; no lower;” Right. It’s 37 degrees inside the Premium Terminal? I’m fairly confident that if the Premium Terminal was kept at 37 degrees, day in, day out, the airline wouldn’t have too many happy passengers.
And who can’t help but laugh at that dumb woman on the Sedar ad, with the crappy voice over and all those stupid gestures she does to emphasise the “top quality” and “after sales service”. And, best of all, play close attention to the hound on her shirt – it starts by pointing to the right, then the shots are reversed and it points to the left, and then at the end it points to the right. Did the director think no one would notice??
I hate the AIRCEL ad, i donno if any of u guys watch any Indian television, its aired on most of them. Its soooo pathetic I want to slap Dhoni(MS Dhoni- indian cricketer brand ambassador i think).... and when i'm on the go.. tada! Gosh that is soooo blooody irritating!
"Ali Baba and 40 thieves" are now "Ali Baba and 30 thieves" ; 10 were laid off.
i dont understand why they cant just get the lady who's talking to do the commercial or if it's the same person why pre record.or better yet no person on the commercial just talking.the ad makes no sense to me
i dont remember seeing good ads on tv,i like vodafone ads on egyptian channels but mostly all original arabic ads r rubbish, from the ones about shabab something ...has anyone seen them, lately its one guy trying to commit suicide from the roof coz he and his dad r not talking or the latest i guess is about a football team the kid gets disqualified and walks away then his friends convince him to talk to the coach....what kind of msg r these idiots sending...and the ones that have me rolling on the floor r the Qatar Airways ads......the champagne ( muslim carrier mind you ) or the chef making the puff pastry,or the freshly brewed coffee....can they pls cut the crap.....or the model they got for the ad.PATHETIC.What can i say the juice ads, feminine pads, lipton, and God have mercy on us from the shampoo and soap ads....eeewwwwwww and they wonder what is wrong with the new generation !!!!!
hehe i've been thinking about sending sedars a letter telling them i want to do an advert for them in a kilt... First they have to make tartan curtains though.
Can see it now...
"Buy ma flippin' curtans laddie, there far be'er than all those other bloody curtain maker numpties out there. So dinna be a poos, off yer kaboos, and get to yer local shoppy"
Try clicking the ZeeTV Indian channel and you'll get stuff like what I mentioned. I pretty much enjoyed this channel when it comes to such types of adverts. They also got those Damas jewelry adverts, too.

somehow the talk was about TV adverts , not about individual religious beliefs.
as far God is concerned , God created humen to love and interact with each other , take care of each other. To pray for HIM , there are many angels . But still we need to pray keeping us on right track and affirming our belief in GOd. As it is Said in Quraan and in many other religious books , the first question after death will be about Praying , but then same time , God says it can be forgiven , but the deeds ( haqook-el-ebaad) defined , how we love and take care of each other ( humanity ), will be more accountable.
Putting aside my lack of belief in God for a moment, to me it implies that God will punish you for not praying. But I don't think that's how he works, is it?
I dont think it means if u dont pray u will have an accident, i think they mean like "if" u have an accident tomorrow type thing... like instead of praying u were chatting... i know what i mean but i cant explain it well hehe
I've got no problem with adverts imploring the importance of praying, but to imply that not praying will lead to you having a car accident is ridiculous and makes a mockery of religion, in my opinion.
Yeah that advert is also shown here... its saying "Akim Salatak"... i think the ads are showing the importance of praying.. all the kids would rather chat on the net, or on the phone at the time of prayer...
What about the 2 women getting all excited over the prospect of settling down with some home-made snacks for a session in front of the shopping channel? The tension builds as 12 o clock approaches. The snacks are out of the oven! Will woman A be forced to eat alone, will woman B miss the all-important opening minutes? Enti Wain??? Ana H'nni!
Haven't watched TV for a while, so I wouldn't know the Ad.
p.s. I hate the word "Connoisseur", it looks French, when it is just a f*/ked-up English word that comes from the French word conaisseur, a "knower, somebody who knows". It's plain ugly! and I can't pronounce the "English" version.
When i was at Morocco i used to see quite often an annoucement that showed a muslim girl wearing an abbaya having a car accident and than showed that same girl, earlier, on a computer talking to someone instead of praying. Needed my wife to explain me because i couldn't understand what kind of advertisement was it. Anyone saw it?

Sedar as in Sedar Blinds? I love them. It was one of the first adverts I ever saw when I came to Qatar, and I'll never forget their tag line - 'Suitable for palaces'. Classic.

Ana Marco Polo!
I did a search for "Conversations with God" on QL and you appear to be the only person who mentions it, albeit in April last year.
I just read it and the 2nd of the first three CWG books and would be interested to hear what you thought of it and if it made a difference.

I have another candidate for worst advert...
Milco yoghurt, as seen over and over and over on Fox Series.
Milco - no one is talking about your delicious range of yoghurts, so juch shut up please.
I heard the Sedar ad in arabic while I was in a sheesha cafe last night.
I couldn't help but gesticulate along with the ad.
Annoyingly, they change the order of the cities in the Arabic version.
Is her make up really bad, or is that the Middle Eastern style????

was refering to the Fujikawa ad...

Yeah I saw the Japanese woman.. Her Arabic was disturbing.. I felt like she was trying to breathe under water.
I had to watch the Japanese woman a few times to work out if she was speaking in English, Arabic, or Japanese.
In the end I decided it was Arabic, sort of.
Or was it?
What's the bet that the new Sedar girl is 'known' to someone in Sedar management, who promised to put her in the ad, if she...........
i really had a great laugh about that SEDAR ad... it still makes me laugh now that i remember hahahah!
The Japanese woman was brilliant.. This "Arab" woman is a total amateur compared to her..
She's an improvement on the other Sedar ads...
Thank you, Sedar.
One of the latest 'Sedar' adverts features a Bahraini actress unable to focus on her lines saying to herself: "Owesome curtains. Of course, they're by Sedar".. Seconds later she wonders: "Where are these curtains from?"
Was it meant as a quiz to the audience?
tbh the worst adds are on the sudanese channel BNTV, omg those ppl compose a song for every single thing, be it a juice bottle, detergant, sausages etc....
"I wonder if she realises what a celebrity she has become" said Britexpat, moving his arms slowly in an expansive gesture and smiling inanely.
it bugs my husband. i once heard him turn the tele off as soon as the advert started.

I'm a very late comer to this thread but I'd like to explain the 'prayer' advert.
It preaches that prayer shouldn't be neglected because death might be closer than we think.
What about the ad where the guy ices a cake for his wife which says " Love you a little"
Can't see the sense of that ad - think it is Noor Trans fat free oil .

I love the choreographed acting and the silly costume..
Is that an advert I thought it was a short art flim
They think they are great. We know they are crap.
Just for you - I love bad TV, Bad Films and Bad adverts.. will not use the "french" word again :)
I wonder if the Sedar adverts are made bad on purpose or the people making them don't realise what crap they are making.

Just read again what you said; sorry but Connoisseur is a French word. Most English is **cked up. They got it from all over.
If you are not very religeous, you will enjoy them! Just keep an open mind!
will look good i meant...
I think "Ana Marco Polo" will good on a Harley davidson too! What do you think?
lets get back to crap adverts and not religion.
it started from this advert " Akim Salatak".
Sorry, my fault. I started talking about the "praying" advert. I didn't mean for it to get so 'deep'!
smartypants at all, just wondering how a fun topic about crap adverts turned into a discussion about religion.
you know what i meant popcorngirl , still you want to be smartypants . you can keep trying
not about crap adverts?

of the boy and girl in the Market Place, blowing bubbles at each other to prove they have fresh breath.
I like the LifeBouy (I think) soap adverts - "Have No Fear"!
What about the 2 women getting all excited over the prospect of settling down with some home-made snacks for a session in front of the shopping channel? The tension builds as 12 o clock approaches. I agree! I loath that ad with a passion! Want to ask if u have seen "Burn after reading?" That must be the worst movie ever produced.
