Worst families in 'sin bins' reduces Crime?

Formatted Soul
By Formatted Soul

Under a Govt. scheme in Britain, thousands of the worst families are to be put in “sin bins” to improve their behavior. As per the scheme members of “Shameless” families are given intensive 24-hour supervision to make sure children attend school, go to bed on time and eat proper meals. Parents are also given help to stop them leading dysfunctional lives and to combat drug or Alcoholism. The scheme will help reduce the number of youngsters who become drawn into lives of crime because of their chaotic family lives. Will this scheme help reduce the crime?

Exactly. So blaming immigrants isn't really appropriate here.

While it doesn't say this in the article I would hazard a guess that the families going into these "sin bins" aren't immigrant families.

Europe is on the verge of a shake-up...

Mark my words.

The problem also lies with the government for accepting many of these no value added immigrant in the country (are they illegal?) where they compete with the locals for jobs. Not only the social scheme have shaken up but the whole structure of the society have been moved. Indeed the creation of more jobs would be ideal in return for incomes taxes revenue for the government, however this is not the case as you see today.

By Gypsy• 28 Jul 2009 15:19

Then the answer is finding better programs, not cancelling them altogether.

By Harmagedōn• 28 Jul 2009 15:14

Immigrants in Europe are still suffering from what is called "cycle of poverty' if you were borne poor it is very likely your descendants will remain poor, only a very small percentage can break this cycle.

Unfortunately I foresee a bleak future for Immigrants in Europe as the whole of Europe is shifting politically to the right, meaning that countries will become more nationalistic.

By Harmagedōn• 28 Jul 2009 15:11

Gypsy I know it wash written slightly harsh, but truly as long as European countries have too much social programs/welfare that cost billions each year, it will be used and abused by many.

Harmagedon it’s called living in a society. Their objective is to make better lives for the generation currently developing. I would assume that there is scientific evidence that this type of intervention will reduce crime and lead to a better life for the children involved, by breaking the dysfunctional cycle.

By Harmagedōn• 28 Jul 2009 14:36

Ridiculous all those efforts that are being made to 'help' those that refuse to take responsibility.

I say let them die, there will come a point they realize they need to contribute to society otherwise they will fade to black. Governments that do too much for the needy create a lazy layer in society that leans on social programs/welfare and will never learn how to survive themselves.

Use the money to protect those whom function properly within society.

I would agree to that :)

By Gypsy• 28 Jul 2009 12:53
Gypsy

I disagree. I don't think the government does enough. While I do think that the welfare system is inadequate in the fact that it doesn't force the people on it to try and find work or provide training options, I don't think that Child Services ESPECIALLY Child Service in the UK is doing enough to protect children.

In my opinion cut the amount of money going to welfare and redirect it into programs like this one.

By britexpat• 28 Jul 2009 12:49

I regard myself as a "leftie", BUT I am getting fed up excuses being made for these so called dysfunctional families. In my opinion , the problem lies with our elected officials who bend over backwards to accomodate layabouts at the expense of hardworking and taxpaying middle classes.

I am sure that if their "benefits" were reduced or curtailed, they would fall into place pronto..

End of Rant..........................

i'm off to search for religious threads now..

No they won't, because the purpose of this is nip the cycle in the bud, teach the kids to be good people so they can teach their kids.

By pixiequeen• 28 Jul 2009 12:43

If govt does this, the next generation will also depend on the govt for upbringing/educating thier kids in a proper manner. It dont make any sense to me.

By Gypsy• 28 Jul 2009 12:40
Gypsy

I would say calling a lot of these families morons is quite harsh too. Many of these parents never had proper parents themselves, were victims of abuse, neglect, etc. It's not easy to be a good parent or even a good person if you've never been around one.

By Gypsy• 28 Jul 2009 12:39
Gypsy

Who else is going to do it? We elect them to take care of things like crime so if they see a way to stop crime at its roots, why not?

By britexpat• 28 Jul 2009 12:36
britexpat

Is it really a role of the government to act as nanny to morons who can't get their lives together???

By Gypsy• 28 Jul 2009 12:28
Gypsy

I think the idea is to put a stop to the things that cause kids to get involved in crime, ie lack of parental guidance and discipline. So ideally the younger you start the better. Basically from what I can see the governments going to step in and be a parent to both the parents and the kids, and hopefully instill some discipline in the kids and teach the parents to be parents.

I actually kind of like the idea, I can think of a few families back home that would really benefit from something like this.

By britexpat• 28 Jul 2009 12:24

Discipline! That's the order of the day..

The wishy washy, liberal, pinko, pc brigade always come uup with stupid, publicly financed schemes like these - And they don't work..

The simple answer is to hold these dysfunctional parents accountable for the actions of their offspring and send the kids off to bootcamp to learn some discipline..

I'm not sure why everyone seems to think this plan is a problem. It isn't about helping the parents it's about helping the kids, and from my point of view this is a better alternative then shifting these kids off to dozens of foster homes.

By anonymous• 28 Jul 2009 11:58

move. UK is not only encouraging more and more parasites to come and feed off it's own hardworking citizens tax money but is also very passive aboutthe threats of crimes which is forcing people to even move to australia in large numbers.

Britani is headed in a wrong direction. It will soon see it's own people suffering at the hands of the foreigners.

I agree with you 100% and am also at a loss to understand why..

Either the government has a master plan we are not aware of, or like Canada , it is focusing on the "next generation" of these layabouts to become the taxpayers of tomorrow..

@ doc1970,one of the reasons it was nominated is because of the element of truth in that humour,i've mentioned this on another thread as well, the UK stands out in their government's welcoming of uneducated, illiterate, supposed political asylum seekers who rather than contribute to their growth feed of hard-working,tax-paying folks money in the form of benefits while they keep the door firmly shut or make it as hard as possible for educated, qualified people who will contribute to their economy...never been able to figure that bit, britexpat, any inputs mate?...

A Somalian arrives in London as a new immigrant to the UK .

He stops the first person he sees walking down the street and says........

'Thank you Mr. British for letting me in this country, giving me housing, money for food, free medical care, free education and no taxes!'

The passer by says, 'You are mistaken, I am Mexican!'

The man goes on and encounters another passer by. 'Thank you for having such a beautiful country here in the UK !'

The person says, 'I not British, I Polish!'

The new arrival walks further, and the next person he sees he stops, shakes his hand and says, 'Thank you for the wonderful Britain !'

That person puts up his hand and says, 'I am from Russia , I am not from Britain !'

He finally sees a nice lady and asks, 'Are you a British?'

She says, 'No, I am from Africa !'

Puzzled, he asks her, 'Where are all the British?'

The African lady checks her watch and says ..'Probably at work'
