Worst freaking thing ever...

Vegas
By Vegas

I could post the worst freaking thing ever on here and:
One third would go "that's not so bad..."
One third would go..."Ok so what's you point..."
And the other third would go "wow, I knew it was bad, but didn't know it was that bad...Oh well..."

OK - two cups!

I prefer Eritrea!

Anyway I was just thinking of going for a few days...

Harar and surrounds and off to Djibouti... it just seems hard to get to see things in Djibouti if you don't have your own transport.

My budget doesn't stretch to the new Kempinksi hotel there.

1-Is a moslem country, The most important.

2-They have ruins of synagogues. Is a mix culture of christianity and Islamic.

3-The people are friendly, but lots of beggars in the streets harassing you for money.

4-They have a recent built multibillion dollar hotel palace which is super nice and expensive.

5-There is a Sheraton, that is not a real Sheraton, is just a joke to attract customers and keep you awake with their enormous rat-cats and roaches. They have their own Casino with slot machines and black jack tables.

6-They have other small Hotels that are Ok.

7-Eat only at the restaurants the French eat at. Hang out in the clubs is a little bit rubbish, but If you wish to drink alcohol do it at the restaurants. The bars and clubs are expensive and full of Night Ladies, which is illegal according to them.

8- Sight seeing and exploring outside the City, I recommend Tadjura area. Super mountain region and gorgeous hidden beaches at the red sea. They have islands tours and do check for tours locally, contact their local travel agencies. They mostly will host their own tour packages.

9- Do Hire a taxi and be careful for the ghost taxis without vehicle insurance always ask for their prices. Mostly anything on the perimeter of the city is One Djibouti frank.

10- The Interior of the country is mountainous and volcanic and beautiful. THE EARTH SHOOK UNDER MY FEET TWICE WHEN I was THERE!

11- Outside the city is shanty town for the poor and the rich with their private own villages.

12- You could travel to Ethiopia from Djibouti in car or If you care to be more of a dare devil take their train to Ethiopia from Djibouti. I did it. Nine Hours ride to Addis ABBA. Take your own food , water and toilet paper.

13- Lots of garbage in the streets. Just ignore it.

14- Their airport is reachable from Dubai. They have an Embassy here in QATAR.

15- They have a lot interesting architecture and history to themselves, While the Brits conquered Eritrea,The French defend them in World WAR 1 and 2 from the Italians too.

16- I did prefer the diving and fishing in Djibouti. They have a very nice and organized diving agency for that kind of activity. They own there own boats and crew at a reasonable price.

17- Cell phones service is available, you have to buy your own chip at their telco office. They use their own Ha-la cards. They have a couple of solid Internet cafe using a T-1 DSL service and lots of private telephone Cabinets.

18- Interesting fact is that their Port is well guarded by the allies, since is the only port of entry for oil and grain delivery from the WFP distribution center in that region of Africa.

19-The Weather is super SUNNY, hot and arid. Winter times is more moderate and it will rain. Get your self a sombrero (Sun Hat). Drink distilled OR PURIFIED water from sealed bottles. The ground water is salty and sub standard, when it comes to Hygiene. You could only use it for bathing only.

20-Economy is very expensive, they speak froggy (French) and Somalian. They have a large French Foreign legion force in there, plus the American Base.

21 The have a couple of supermarkets and shopping stores where the french buy their stuff.

22- They have a nice bowling alley with good food and drinks. I invested and went in partner ship in rebuilding the complex and I got paid back in double in return for my loan that I gave them legally.

23- Where is my one large cup of Ethiopian coffee?

I prefer Ethiopia, which is a another story in another time.

I went to Nairobi this summer... there is a big monument there and the sadness is still perceptable.

The Kenyans seem justifiable anxious about further attacks due to the fact it has border with Somalia.

Refugee Somalis live in shabby tent cities and are not allowed further than 20kms or something away from the are... due to the fact that Kenya is worried about terrorism.
