Only once today but occasionally over the past couple of days. You're not alone.

Yahoo was updating its services today in the afternoon (or thats what they said after i'd written off a complaint note to them)...but all seems to be normal now....and after the problems that have cropped up with Skype...yahoo talk is our main outlet.

Yahoo! Inc., owner of the most-visited U.S. Internet site, had some temporary technical problems with its instant messenger service early today in Europe. It resumed work after 9 a.m. London time. Many crude and oil product traders, brokers and industry analysts use the service to communicate.

``We understand some users may not have been able to access Yahoo! Messenger earlier today,'' David Sawday, the London-based director of corporate communications at Yahoo, said in an e-mail. ``This now seems to be resolved and we apologize for any inconvenience.''

I was having the same issue all the day too. Thought that my Yahoo Messenger was corrupted so tried Meebo, but also could not login .. after like 30 minutes of countless numbers of tries ... I was able to login, tried to open my e-mails ... got the 999 error on yahoo server. Guess that some of their servers were down for maintenance. Remember getting that error at the beginning of the lunch of the new Ajax interface of yahoo messenger.

You can try Yahoo Web Messenger ... it works fine with me, the funny thing is after using that I tried connecting using my normal YM and it works fine :)

Gotta bear with Yahoo issues, nothing wrong from your side. It is their problem.

It just happened to me too!!!I tried 100's of times...checked the password again and again....I had given up finally...

...but now it is working fine....

Took about 30minutes to sign in.

It hasn't been notifying me of any mail on my yahoomail account either.
