Zekreet fenced off!!

I went down to Zekreet this morning and wsa suprised to find the whole peninsular fenced off - just past the new sculptures by Richard Serra. The fence stretches the entire way across the peninsular a couple of kms before the film-set.

Does anyone know why???

Thankfully there were a couple of holes in the fence so could still sneak through, but this does not bode well for one of the few interesting places in Qatar to spend the day with the kids....

We bumped into this fence a few days ago as well. There was only one hole we could find. Looks like it will be completely closed soon! Agree that this is a shame, it's one of the few if not only really nice and quiet areas to spend a day picknicking.

Any news on this?
