You can wear Dhoti, but DON'T fold it above the knee. Its a kind of style Keralites follow while wearing Dhoti.

Hope he will enjoy his stay here.

If Gandhi can go in a Dhoti to the UK why not your father to Qatar!

I personally feel Dhoti can be worn and he can travel and it is nothing diffrent from any other modest way of dressing. It covers him fully and i do not think there will be any issue on this . I am sorry that many people seem to forget that each country has a tredition and it is accepted all over the world as long as they are modest and respectable .

Decent dhoti is fine and will be accepted, offcourse check with airlines. But, if he is traveling abroad first time whats wrong in trying trousers first time. You are deliberately making a story out of it. He is watching all modern things on TV and seeing it around, then why the hitch of not changing himself.

This is a stupid discussion, if he does not want to change his mind as 90% people dont do it easily so let him come in the dhoti.

then if your father wears it ,and if when at the airport they don't allow , so what will happen?...just explain to him a few hours or a day is ok to wear descent clothes.

respect countries culture, do not wear things which cause other peoples inconvenient like lungi , dhoti, cheddi bla bla . wearing pant or jeans is not difficult task.

If u r so serious why don't you check with Airlines when booking the tickets. I don't think there's any objection but with airlines the dress code rules changes often, they may veto in the departure hall, unless he is a politician. Bermuda is accepted, try if suits him.
