Can a western visitor enter a majlis of a stranger uninvited?
I'm interested in meeting Qataris who could help me learn the Khaleeji dialect of Arabic. To practice often enough, they should be near my home ideally, but I don't know any Qataris living near me. Someone told me I could just walk into a majlis to meet one, but is this true? I would feel very rude entering someone else's majlis uninvited.
I asked about 5 different Qatari coworkers, and they all said it would be fine if the majlis was outside the house and open to the street with the lights on. They said to come dressed appropriately (nice casual, they said, or anything you'd wear to an office job). I still haven't had the nerve to try it yet, though.
It might be risky.you can try to learn in a language school.
would you do that back home?
wy not ask at work,.to a qatari coworker,.or at a social gathering,..
