car seats covered...

Hi Friends...
I have noticed something different here…..the seats of most of the cars and SUVs , especially the ones used by locals are covered with a plastic coating.. no matter the car is new or old...guess they get it covered every time they take it for service.. the seats may be of leather or velvet….then whats the point in covering it? Or may be some other reason behind it?
Alot of the boy racers in the uk also hang cd's in their cars to reflect the flash from speed cameras. They are not religious just scared of being caught speeding or jumping red lights.
right!!...I have seen some CDs with Quran printed on it...Its just a part of belief...

Regarding the CD i think its not just any sorta CD i think they have something printed on it, i saw one with something in arabic could be something from the Quran not sure, its just a show piece :)

The CD hanging in the car is to reflect the flash from Traffic cameras. It is supposed to obscure the face of the driver so they cannot be prosecuted, Its rubbish because it doesn't work!! It just looks stupid
mmm sounds very strange. I always thought khaleejis considered it cheap to leave new things in the packaging????
I can't understand why they leave those transit signs still pasted to the windows....obstructs the view for the driver at least?

What is the reason for hanging a CD from the read-view mirrow? To tell everyone "Hey I have a CD player in my car!"?? Anyone have any insight into that custom?
Many people cover the seats with 2 covers:
The first is a plastic sheet cover.
The second is one that looks a lot like the original.
This is to preserve the original seats, so that it looks good when they want to sell it in a few years.
think abt the other way round.......you could get your ass covered up with plastic, after jogging during summer............lol
So that it remains clean till the end of life.......!!!!!!!

Search me...no point spending money to buy a car with leather seats only to sit on plastic on top of them lol.

Living_in_Qatar, I agree it looks real Odd. :)
And it can't be as comfortable with Plastic as without, as I would have expected the Car Manufacturers to manufactur cars with only plastic seats.
Its all upto the individual.....to get it covered or not!!
But still from my point of view...it looks real ODD.......

I personally prefer having my seats covered in plastic, instead of having it wrapped in a thick seat which covers up the original seats, this way the original seat remains clean and visible for years. With the AC on there is no question of discomfort. I derive the pleasure of a "New Car Feel" for as long as I wish. Nothing wrong in it, no matter how strange it appears to others.
I would imagine that it is not very pleasant sitting on Plastic.
When I got my car from the Showroom, the guy's were very surprised when I was upset that they had not removed any of the plastic on the Seats and the rest of the interior.

I have seen some 98 model camry with the seats covered as if it has just come out of the showroom...!!!!!!!!
