I was reading on alternative medicines. Is cupping done here in Qatar? Is it legal?

My Aikido Sensi used to do it to me to treat injusies for me.

He used rcycled jars with little valves fitted and a small compressor so he could comtrol the vacuum.

I say give if a try if the practicioner comes recommended.

It's been done for centuries so it can't be that bad.

It will leava a massive love bite the shape and size of the jar.

I saw in a magazine a while ago that some hollwood star had them on her back and wore a backless dress to some event or other, it looked pretty cool.

But if you are not prepared for the [temporary] marks it can be quite alarming.

I’ve had it done before and it was a horribly painful experience and in addition, I was left with massive bruising! Not recommended!

>>>> dont know how they use fire inside the cups to create the suction.

Removes O2, therefore, creating a suction.

cupping is like a deep tissue massage.

esp if u have pain in spot areas, like in my case i used to have pin like pain in my upper back below my shoulders, not an area where i can apply pressure myself.i have tried physiotherapy, ultrasound, and no help.i had tried the chinese reflexology massage just to escape working out that day..was too lazy.

professional massage therapists can makes out problematic areas, and she had applied the cups.it worked.i havent had that pain ever since alhamdullilah.

dont know how they use fire inside the cups to create the suction.

so its arabic, chinese and russian form of treatment.

Interesting... it is routinely used in Russia. Any farmacy sells small thick glass cups to do the procedure.

it cud be what you are describing terramax.i had done the chinese reflexology at the ramada fitness centre.i remember the lady had used 2-3 different cups, on areas where i had severe back pain and created some kind of suction.she had applied some sort of gel before placing the cups, dont know if the gel was medicated or otherwise.alhamdullilah i have not had that pain ever since, this was done some 4yrs back.but i had 3huge black marks for almost 2 weeks on my back.

is this what cupping is?the traditional doctors would probably use herbs.

So, is it like when you put something burning inside a cup to creat vacuum inside and then press it to the body and it sticks there by sucking effect?

I think I once saw an ad on the Family Food Center advertising board.

The practitioners are usually called "Arabic Doctors", ie they practice traditional Arabic medicine, are found in out of the way places and by word of mouth.

I'll keep my ears peeled for you.

It is the use of heated cups/ horns to bring blood to the surface. It promotes healing for injuries or poor circulation and so many other things. The sometimes do blood letting in conjuction with the cupping. I was asking because I saw it in a hadith I was reading. I wanted to try it at least once.
