Horse Riding, Training, Breeding and Show Jumping

Folks,

Can anyone please let me know if there is a horse-farm in Qatar where I can learn horse-riding as a beginner.

I am interested in Turkomen horses, Arabian Nejdi horses and Thoroughbreds.

I have tried horse-riding in school and I hated every moment of it.

To put it simply, I am somewhat scared of heights, falling down and am paranoids of animals.

However, I want to learn to interact with horses, esp. the sociable ones and see how behaviour affects their attitude towards me.

(Moreover, I am interested in getting over all the scares and phobias which I had as a kid and I am almost there !)

Can anyone help me?

Also, how much money would it cost me on a monthly basis?

I am looking for basic training, no-frills and certainly no snobbery.

But I would like the horse-riding school to follow basic safety and international dress-codes and standards.

Any help from QL-ers would be appreciated.

:-)

zaki the duckie

I mean I KNOW they used to carry full grown men in metal armor, but i'm a big guy and am always affraid of hurting the horse! I don't weigh THAT much but its a mental fear I have of being too heavy for them to carry me.

Incidentally, I tried it for the first time in my life 2 years ago in Canada...I INSISTED on a Clydesdale or nothing at all....so they obliged after laughing at me....thankfully THOSE horses seemed strong enough to carry me....but I think i'd kill an Arabian LMAO!

Stay safe all.

Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?

Thoroughbreds will probably frighten the pants off you, Turkomens are rare. All horses are pretty sociable to a degree if they're treated well. Just watch the back legs, I've been on the wrong side many a time! Good luck!
