Like most people I have noticed the mushrooming election billboards around town. Can some one explain what the elections are for and what is at stake, etc.?

Fair enough. Apologies. And I saw one of the posters the other day. Good for her. She's a role model.

I didn't mean you , i meant the smarty who was mocking that it is against their Honour, and i really laugh everyd day when i see 2 Ladies competeing in the same Zone (Airport) and i just remember how dumb the one who was mocking here.. and how disgraces he will be whe he will see that.

My honest inquiry is not an attack on the 'honour and traditions of the culture'. It's an inquiry in attempt to understand the culture, and thanks to some of the posts I've learned quite a bit. Try reading the OP and the whole thread before assuming the worst in people, because THAT is shameful.

before someone attacks the honour and the traditions of the culture he is living in.. he must be sure of what he is saying.. and hey you.. take this, there is a lady in my zone who is running for the elections, and with big big boards,, but not bigger than your shame.

Thanks Khanan. I am not in that area, so I haven't seen her posters. Good to know that the there is some gender diversity.

Thanks for the link Xena. Let's hope for more success for women this time around.

and vocals council member is a lady, Sheikha Jufairi. Her posters are more appealing as it mention about her work n efforts for her council area, Old Airport n Rawda. It can be seen around Old Airport area and in Lulu

This is the third term.

Alter Dusty... why is it you are always looking for trouble?

A reasonable question was asked, why can you not just answer it properly?

So is this a new thing? And I haven't seen any women on the posters. Do they ever run for office?

lol! I have to admit that I am enjoying all of the poses. There is one on my drive home who looks decidedly angry; I'd vote for the guy near education city roundabout who is in action pose holding a pen and speaking--looks hardworking.

I think it's a beauty competition for men.
