Katara’s Ramadan Festival becoming popular
Katara’s Ramadan Festival, Qur’an and Astronomy, has continued to attract visitors who express their joy and appreciation at the various events lined up, which appeal to all sections of people.
Religious lectures held at the Katara Grand Mosque in collaboration with Qatar Charity have also enjoyed a sizeable turnout of visitors.
Lectures are being delivered by a number of renowned Muslim scholars from different parts of the Arab and Islamic world, dealing with a wide range of issues. Besides, Taraweeh prayers have been led by famous Qur’an reciters.
Meanwhile, a Qur’an and Astronomy competition in formative arts, organised by the Qatari Society for Formative Arts in co-operation with Katara, has been launched to give such artists the opportunity to showcase their best paintings.
“The competition gives each artist the opportunity to display one painting based on the theme of the competition. All participating works will be subjected to a committee of experienced judges to select three winners,” said Yusuf al-Sada, chairman of the Qatari Society for Formative Arts.
The first winner will get QR15,000, the second QR10,000 and the third QR5,000.
Programmes on religious chants concluded yesterday at the Katara Drama Theatre, witnessing a positive response from the audience attending these shows.
There is also the Katara Ramadan Wall programme, an interactive competition wherein visitors need to create wall art by taking pictures at Katara and sending them to the Katara social media sites. These will be collectively displayed at Katara as an expression of the spirit of Ramadan.
