MoI offers some handy road safety tips for holy month
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has reminded motorists of the need to follow safe driving practices during the holy month of Ramadan, reported Gulf Times.
In this connection, the ministry has listed a number of road safety tips in a post on its Facebook page.
The MoI has urged motorists to be extra cautious while driving during Iftar. They should avoid any last-minute rush while going home or to any other place to break their fast.
“Start early and reach safely,” the advisory said.
People should also avoid driving if they are tired or drowsy. “It’ll save your life and that of others,” the MoI stressed.
Further, the advisory said motorists should be patient and co-operate with other drivers, road users and security personnel.
It also asked them to avoid random parking in front of mosques and other public places as this may block traffic.
All other traffic rules and safety instructions should also be followed in addition to the points mentioned above, the MoI said.
Measures such as fastening the seatbelt, not engaging with mobile devices, sticking to the speed limit, maintaining lane discipline, slowing down while approaching crosswalks and leaving a safe distance between vehicles play a key role in ensuring road safety, the advisory noted.
“We also remind you not to park in slots reserved for people with special needs and not to cut in traffic lines from side lanes,” it added.
The MoI wished everyone safe driving throughout the holy month and thereafter.

They will slow down one day ............ when they are old ............
Yes, that is certain. I just don't like being the first on the scene after an accident...
Rich, You are absolutely right. But you know youth get a thrill out of the higher speeds ...............
Just wish some "special" drivers would slow down a bit. I had three barreling down on me (im not on the left lane but cruising at 120kmph) as they were playing (shifting lanes around the few vehicles) I would expect they were driving in excess of 160kmph. This was on Salwa southbound and early this morning 3am. There was no apparent reason to be moving at those speeds. As I caught up to them as they pulled over to the shoulder down the road exit. If one thinks about it at that speed any accident would most likely be fatal.
Plan well in advance , avoid rush , be safe & keep others safe also ................ Let those gentlemen pass first who are required to reach in time ........
Good tips .. Joys.. Many drive with blindfold and the dog laps up the cold water
Being a responsible driver means a responsible resident ......................
