Three best brunches easy on the wallet and palate

Fridays and Saturdays are usually fun days in Qatar, where mums and dads pack up their kids and head out for few hours of good food and entertainment. With all the options available in Qatar, it can be quite a daunting task to choose the right place. But I have my three favorites which ensure that my stomach is taken care of, they stay easy on my wallet, and my kids are easy to handle.

Coral All day dining, Intercontinental Doha

The Saturday family brunch with its impressive selection of international cuisine from all over the world, its live cooking stations, matched with a laidback ambiance, is ideal for me. There is a large variety of salads, appetizers and main course from both the Arabian and international cuisine. There are lots of Arabian desserts to indulge into, so just one stop to the sweet station will not be enough. The interior is beautiful with its white and ocean blue hue. The staff knows its job and performs the same professionally. After the kids have had their fill at the tables, they can go to designated children’s play area where they get busy in coloring, playing with toy blocks and watching cartoons.

During the brunch, Intercontinental organizes a children’s cooking class, where these small master chefs dressed in aprons and chef hats learn to prepare recipes taught by the Chef himself.

Seasons Restaurant, Movenpick Doha

I enjoy Friday brunches not only because they showcase an international blend of world class cuisine with live cooking stations, but there is more food at every corner compared to other days of the week. We can indulge into an elegant yet casual experience at Seasons restaurant. The buffet is delightful, well-seasoned with the endless assortments of appetizers and desserts. The service guys are friendly, cheerful and make sure we are well catered to.

The kids have a separate play area which is a little far from the main dining buffet area. It has a notable selection of kid’s all-time favorites like fruit pizza, fruit sushi, cupcakes, pop cakes, pasta, hot dogs, burgers and one cannot forget popcorn, cotton candies and ice cream. An area with bouncing castle, PlayStation games, ‘dance with the clumsy clown’, and face-painting keeps the kids engaged, plus it’s supervised by a qualified team while we enjoy our food and wine.

Al Hubara Restauant, Grand Sheraton Hotel Doha

Al Hubara is a beautifully decorated dining venue known for its international spread and theme nights. The interior of golden work and fountains at every corner of the place makes you feel like you are stepping into a palace. The buffet at the Friday brunch is massive with many assortments that satisfy your taste buds. It’s a seafood heaven with lobsters, shrimps, squids, and crabs in salad, appetizer and main courses.  There is a table for bread, cheese, soup, sushi and different meats. The dessert area is like a sweet candy-land with fountains of dark and white chocolate, Umm Ali (my favorite Arabic sweet dish), Kunafa, cakes and fruits. The staff is professional and pleasant, smiling all the time, giving prompt responses and personalized attention to the guest’s requirements.

The kids have their own buffet with kid’s favorite food like fish and chips, pasta, nuggets and mini burgers. Coloring area, mascots, movie area and a mini house to play in welcomes the kids. Overall it is a fun filled family brunch experience.
