tomorrow is Garangao night

Tomorrow is the 14th of Ramadan the night when local Qataris celebrate Garangao or sometimes called (Gir-ga-oon).......
Garangao is special night here in Qatar and around the Gulf region.
It's a tradition dating back to the pearl-diving culture of the old times Khaliji societies,
On this night, children dress up in traditional clothing, and knock on every door in their neighborhood, and the household would be ready to receive them with sweets and goodies.
They collect the goodies in custom-made cotton sacks, hanging loosely d their necks.
In the old days, on this special night children will be seen wandering around the streets until late into the night singing the special Garangao songs.
It kind of reminds me of the few nights before Christmas in my country, when young children would go around blocks singing Christmas for sweets! It was great!
I encourage everybody to go out tomorrow night and enjoy this festive occasion.
Cheers.
