Khan: Well said!
Just go to Rizks' Khaima ..... Great food at reasonable prices .. Waitresses on roller skates and waiters in bright coloured lungis ..
Why would the needy want to spend 1000qar on dinner during Ramadan? People should live within their means and not be jealous of the rich people who will be spending thousands of riyals on amazing foods in the luxury tents all over Doha.
If there was something wrong with massive buffet meals with all night live entertainment and sheesha smoking, do you think all the locals would allow it, and support it?
Hummmm, don't forget that the needy probably can't afford these meals @240 QAR per head.
Family of 3 with 2 kids = 1,000 QAR
Are you sure Ramadan is all about remembering the poor.
Dear Mr.Khan,
Thank you for your clarification. May Allah reward you & your family in Dunya & Aahira during this Ramadan.
The other thing I love about ramadan in Qatar is all the sheesha at the hotels, from sunset to dawn. When I'm not eating I'm smoking sheesha :-) and we get shortened hours in the office!!
And QL is supporting it as if they got paid for it!
Yum yum yum. Ramadan is back! Time for more great food in the luxury 5 star hotels of Doha.
Ramadan is the best time of year for food lovers in Qatar.
Fasting is intended to help teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint and generosity. It also reminds us of the suffering of the poor, who may rarely get to eat well.
Eat, eat, eat. That's all you can think about it seems.
Is there any tent where buffet will cost between 20-30 QR.
Dear All
Please dont make Ramadan a Food Festival .
I just want to make it clear that there is no connection between Ramadan and food variety and slaving in the kitchen to prepare for iftar. As a matter of fact, we should suffice with something simple and not overdo eating and preparing. After all, Ramadan is a month of fasting and practicing self restraint. Sadly, many overeat in Ramadan or prepare too much and we see piles of food being thrown away while we have Muslims all over who can barely find one proper meal in the day. How wonderful if we simplify our meals and use the money we save to feed the needy. I believe we need to think long and hard about this.
I am sad to say that over the years I have noticed that Ramadan has become a time for feasting for a great many of us. We seem to feel compelled to eat a greater variety of food and go out of our way to perhaps compete to see who has the best new recipes. When are asked about the wisdoms of fasting, we quickly respond by saying that it teaches us to feel the pain and hunger the less fortunate feel. Really?! You're gonna go with that after the lavish meals enjoy in Ramadan? If that truly was the case, we'd either be inviting the less fortunate to eat with us or sending them meals so they don't have to worry about where to get food from. This can be in the form of cooked meals or even groceries. If we want to feed people overseas, there are reliable organizations we can go through or have someone we know in whatever place take care of things on our behalf; we just send the money. My wish is that we act upon this, in sha Allah.
Let us get our priorities straight and remember the essence of Ramadan. IT IS NOT EATING FOOD.
