Hi, I am visiting a friend in Doha and I would like to bring few cans of beer from UK. Does anyone knows if it is allowed to take alcohol to Qatar (in my check in luggage)? Many thanks.

No you can not do that (it could lead to trouble)

@sixpirated having a liquor permit issued in Qatar does not entitles you or allows you to bring liquor from abroad; it only allows you or entitles you to buy it from QDC (the only place you will be able to find some booze here)

Regards!!

Nope - I've heard of people smuggling it in in other bottles but it isn't worth the hassle.

Tell your friend what you want and hope they buy it prior to your arrival - that way it can be nice and cold in the fridge before you get there.

(tecnically - this is also a no no, but it is unlikley anyone will be checking up).

Enjoy your visit.

Even if you have liquor permit, I don't think your allowed to bring it from outside. If you have a liquor permit, you are entitled to buy it from QDC only.

Edit- No illegal advice from me :P

You cannot bring alcohol into Qatar. End of story. They screen your bags (all of them) on arrival and they will confiscate it (at the very least) - it's illegal, so I imagine the law allows for arrest/fines as well. I've only heard of it being taken away and a warning issued though.

no need to give useless advices! they WILL confiscate it, and you never know, one might get in trouble as well.. why to take a chance?

last time I brought a Maple syrop from home. It was in the original bottle with the label clearly stating that this is a Pure Maple Syrop.

They made me open it, and almost tasted it..

no one yet got awya with this, but many got in trouble..

Few cans of beer are not worth such headache.. go to any bar or to QDC and get it..
