Cosplay (コスプレ, kosupure?), short for "costume play",[1] is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Characters are often [2] drawn from popular fiction in Japan, but recent trends have included American cartoons and Sci-Fi. Favorite sources include manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, hentai and fantasy movies. Any entity from the real or virtual world that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a subject. Inanimate objects are given anthropomorphic forms and it is not unusual to see genders switched, with women playing male roles and vice versa.

We are trying to build a cosplay community here in Qatar, depending if there are people whose interested and will support it!
As starters, we can make Villagio or City Center as our cosplay arena once a month and probably can do a competition in the long run.

I'm an enthusiast of manga & anime but cosplay maybe as an audience only but it would be great to witness it here in Qatar...

it'll be cool if it happened but it'll be hard to find characters whose outfits actually abide by qatari culture and standards..all sailor fuku are out of question i think...
