Hey folks, anyone wanna play Gaelic (Irish) football? The Qatar Gaelic Football team train every Tuesday night at 8.30 in Doha Rugby Club, near Decoration Roundabout on the Salwa Road. No matter what your level, even if you have never even heard of the sport, we are always interested in having new players, hope to see you there.

You can find out more about the sport at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaelic_football, basically it's a bit like a cross between association and rugby football, very similar to Australian football, if you wanna find out more you'll have to come along on Tuesday and see for yourself!

it's not an all male thing, we've had a few girls train with us in the past, and at the regional tournaments there are usually women's tournaments that are played alongside the men's ones. hopefully we'll be hosting a mini-tournament with dubai, bahrain and one of the other gulf teams in march, but this has not been confirmed yet.

I would love to give it a try.

I have just one concern. I was reading a bit about it and in the description of the game, it states that tackling is usually done by shoulder shoves!!

Is that like a rugby shove, or more like touch rugby style, a bit softer.

I am asking this as I have a dislocated shoulder, which has recovered now thank God, but I wouldn't like to put it in any kind of extreme risk!

Cheers!

I love watching. To me it's just like Aussie rules with a round ball.
