BA worker guilty of plane terror plot

A Bangladeshi Islamic militant working for British Airways was found guilty on Monday of plotting to blow up a plane after conspiring with radical US-Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.

Rajib Karim, 31, was "committed to an extreme jihadist and religious cause" and was "determined to seek martyrdom", jurors at Woolwich Crown Court in London were told.

The jury convicted Karim of four counts of preparing terror attacks.

Psycho extremist or plain nutter. And a danger to society not to mention having not so hot playmates. Whatever be his motives and beliefs he should be penalized with the toughest punishment permitted and locked away. A country like UK where many citizens regardless of their race and origin are blessed with much privileges don't need traitors like him!

Nic.....your human written love manuals which you follow says to label Elph as haters for whatever he says and be silent on PMF hatred. And probably the manual also says to lie about things which you have no idea or knowledge. To save your energy on thinking whether me and Elph are same....I am not him.

(What a great name!) If you scroll up, you will probably see that I haven’t labeled you as hater. Are you Elaph?!

I only did so to Elaph and that is a conclusion based on what he expresses here in QL for the past few weeks. If in doubt, check his profile and see what he specified as his interests.

Also check above how many times he used the word "hate" ;)

Nic...."I might not embrace certain ideologies or sympathize with certain behaviors but that does not mean I hate somebody!"...and that qualifies you to label others as haters? So you are following hatred manual written by human beings.

What a great name you baptized yourself with!

Just to clarify, because I don’t think you can reach this far: I don't hate anybody. I might not embrace certain ideologies or sympathize with certain behaviors but that does not mean I hate somebody!

It appears that someone is shortsighted and assumes that all participants in this forum live in Qatar!

Moreover, your hate is such in a scale that you assume that those who are not with you, hate what you represent.

Keep thinking; eventually you might open your mind a bit and will understand better what you read!

Adey.......wikipedia.....a very reliable source indeed.

You believe this:'On September 1, 1979, the Merced Sun-Star reported that Stockham, whom it described as a "32-year-old Muslim convert" Back in 1979 paper described him muslim.

But rejecting this:'In 1985....According to psychiatrists, he believed he was Jesus Christ and that extraterrestrials had taken over his body.' In 1979 he was described muslim and in 1985 he believed to be Jesus. Which one you want me to take seriously 1979 or 1985? Or was he a christian terrorist acting as muslim to take revenge of 9/11?

A psychiatric examination found that Stockham suffered from bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and personality disorder with anti-social features.

You should in fact applaud the reporters of the Dearborn mosque articles, they did indeed refuse to mention the culprits religion. You lambasted them for actually doing what you wanted.

I agree with you; a persons religion or country of origin should not be the 'thing' that grabs the headlines.

The crime alone is bad enough without a religion or culture being dragged down with that person.

No he is not a Christian, he has been a muslim for the last 37 years.

'Roger Stockham was arrested and charged with TERRORISM after attempting to blow up the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn'

'In 1977, Stockham armed himself with bombs and took his psychologist hostage, but surrendered later after meeting with a reporter'

'On September 1, 1979, the Merced Sun-Star reported that Stockham, whom it described as a "32-year-old Muslim convert", had taken his then-9-year-old son Kane out of foster care and brought Kane and a gun on board his rented Cessna 150 in attempt to land at Los Angeles International Airport and hijack an airliner to take him to Iran. [5] At one point he was also accused of threatening President Jimmy Carter.'

'In 1985, Stockham was arrested at Reno-Cannon International Airport for planting a pipe bomb and carrying an unregistered firearm, an incident covered in the Los Angeles Times. Aged 38 at the time, he was described as having mental and criminal problems. According to psychiatrists, he believed he was Jesus Christ and that extraterrestrials had taken over his body.'

'In 2002 he pled not guilty by reason of insanity to threatening to blow up a Veterans Administration center in Vermont and making threats against President George W. Bush.'

'Stockham rejected his court-appointed attorney because he claimed the attorney was a Shi'ite Muslim who worships at the Islamic Center: “I reject my appointed counsel. He is a Shi'ite and I am not.” he said, before he was cut off by 19th District Judge Mark Somers. It was also revealed that Stockham was a convert to Islam, spoke Arabic during the preliminary interview, and quoted Qur’anic verses. His newly appointed attorney also insisted that his client isn't anti-Muslim as Stockham converted to Islam soon after serving in Vietnam in 1974 and spoke of his outrage over U.S. conduct in Iraq. The chairman of the board for the Islamic Center of America, Afif Jawad, who attended the hearing, said he and other leaders continue to meet with local and federal law enforcement officials about the incident. Jawad stated: "This man knows what he's doing" and "This man picked on the Shiites....That's a threat to the community." The manager at the Detroit bar Stockham visited before his arrest, said Stockham claimed to be part of a group of Indonesian Mujahideen, or holy warriors.'

sillyguy, he did not, to my knowledge, try to do those bombing for any god. So , no he is, therefore, not a christian terrorist. Is he a terrorist? Very likely. Is he as deranged as his fellow Muslim terrorists are? Very likely. Thank God he is not as successful as they are.

He may actually not BE a Christian. We do have choices in the US. "Only" a felony charge? I suspect he will never see the light of day again and for that I am thankful. It's early days, we will see if the Feds bring terrorism charges. Probably depends on the bomb material he was carrying. In the US prosecutors tend to bring only charges they KNOW they can prove in court.

See the difference in reporting and comments made by QLers.

"A Bangladeshi Islamic militant working for British Airways was found guilty on Monday of plotting to blow up a plane after conspiring with radical US-Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki."

3rd para: ...The jury convicted Karim of four counts of preparing terror attacks. In very first para it says everything about the culprit....his religion, his origin, who is his inspiration. The moment you read the first para....hate for muslim and islam comes. In 3rd para he is already convicted of terrorism.

See this one:

1st para: A man from California was arrested in Michigan, for threatening to blow up one of the country's largest mosques. The man is a 63-year-old Army veteran. 1st para says nothing about his religion, who is his inspiration. Though he is also inspired by religion(though article nowhere mentioned that).

4th para: ....Stockham is facing felony charges, and he is now sitting in jail awaiting to face charges. He is only facing a felony charges? Oh yeah because he is white and christian and even though he has criminal history.

nomerci says....I'd say. Probably deranged." Though he is involved in random bombing. He is only deranged or a nutter. But a muslim is a terrorist.

Now wait for some to read the article and will find some key words/ key differences and will overwhelmingly support this christian terrorist oh sorry deranged man and the same people will spew their hatred for islam and muslims.
