Can your boss alter your productivity ?
By Prasanth@Doha •
There is a saying there "you are the creator of your own destiny" ... But my question to all here is that if the abovesaid is true, why is it that most employees resign not from their companies but from their bosses ? A painfully irritating boss can drastically reduce our productivity at work and an inspiring boss can bring out the best in us, why ? Then, what and where is our individuality ?
Throw in your views ...
hey verisimilitude,
u caught me dere man .... ;)
If dere is 1 day in ma life i don wanna miss ... itz 2day !
I am beginning to see why your bosses give you a hard time...
gud question, shoe ...
we defenitely work for our family and that is the reason all of us take the crap whatever our bosses give unconsiderate as to what we go through.
otoh, i am not an employee to the company i work for ... i am their business consultant and the reason i walked out of an employment to a consultant line of profession was only that, here you decide who u want to keep and where you want to keep them ;)
If dere is 1 day in ma life i don wanna miss ... itz 2day !
ive never felt that i have to be immune to all the situation my bosses give me.ive never become COMPLACENT in my work and will never be.
if you get unnerved by what he is doing, surely you have to take a step back and find out what he is really up to.
btw, prasanth are you working directly for him or do you have teammates with you?
are you working for your family?is it a family business?
prasant, were merely humans not machines... we always have that certain boiling point.. especially if the situation is not justifiable.

Is it your bosses birthday?
right shoe,
but my point of view about the relationship between individuality of oneself and boss factor is that upto what level can u remain immune in the said situation ... +ve or _ve ... when +ve, you won't have to worry but the other way round you have a whole lotta concern
If dere is 1 day in ma life i don wanna miss ... itz 2day !
and that in the end Prasanth will be the end of your individuality issues....:)
Your Boss can .. by blocking QL in your Office. ;)

It is not above individuality, we need teamwork. Irritating your employees is not a good choice of management, I tell you.

Of course manager can alter productivity
and individuality has nothing to do with it
If you are the kind of person who's prodcutivity is not influenced by your manager, then it means that your boss needn't micro-manage you or will give up doing so...
You may be better suited to work in remote locations...
But it also means that you would adapt poorly to changes in work culture and processes...
johnpur,,,,if i were you,,,instead of hating all of them,,,why dont you do the opposite?
I hate my boss, i hate the tea boy, i hate the moron beside me here....this is why im leaving..wtf
this usually happens. if you can't take the heat, leave.
i just answered your question regarding resignation reasons.i never got fired from any of my jobs, which im really thankful for,i resigned for greener pastures.
however that being said,,,when my employers pry and dig deeper about reasons, other than above that i mentioned,i pin my boss to the wall.its a calculated strategy for me.its risky situation, if they decide to keep me or my boss. thats what bosses are for.(taking the blame)right???lol
You only go as fast as the slowest person ahead of you..
If he's sooo slow you're dead bored you'll have to quit..

Yes, your boss can alter your productivity, working environment is also a factor in producing good quality output. How can you work in an environment wherein shouting and cursing from the boss is a normal everyday scenario? As much as you would want to be objective and understand how stressed they are, you do have a share of your "I'm so pissed off days!" You can get used to the situation but you can never be immuned to the effect it will cast on your mental, emotional and moral well being.
On the other hand, a good boss, who lives and leads by example can always be a good inspiration and motivation in giving out 100% work effort and efficiency.
Hi shoe,
i understand your honest opinion but i am a líl surprised at the stark contradiction in your statement.
first u tell that you will challenge and redirect yourself to excel and then u tell that u resign because u are burnt our because of your boss !
now, which of this is the right picture ?
If dere is 1 day in ma life i don wanna miss ... itz 2day !
It depends on what the boss is like. My current boss is alright (the one above her is a nightmare though) and in my previous job - that boss was even worse. I think the way you are treated at work by your boss/fellow employees really makes a difference. For me anyway...
my take on things-there are a lot of good bosses out there that ive worked with but it deterred me from giving 110% of my efforts and ive been under vile, pukey bosses, that ive also worked with that made me question my worth and well being and upon careful assessment,i took it as a challenge and redirected myself.i do my job first and deal with my boss second.
come resignation time,i tell them during the exit interview that i burned out from work, and when they ask why?- i tell them,,,ask my boss.
in effect,do they keep you on board or do they keep your boss?
go figure....
