In case of emergency

I was watching an old man walking alone in the Corneche today. He seemed to be weak and was looking tired too. By looking at his appearance I was able to realize how hard he might have worked in this country all his life time to feed his family...then I had a weird feeling .....what if this man collides here...who is going to assist him...how are they going to get his details......of course from his wallet but who to contact?
Then I started to think about myself...I may get hit by a car or a truck otherwise incapacitated while I am on the road... in that case have I arranged any emergency contact so that my loved ones can be contacted by whomever come in for assistance? To be honest I have not saved any emergency contact numbers in my phone...except my Qatari ID and some money there is nothing in my wallet too..
So guyz share your views here please as people who live alone away from families, loved ones...how have you prepared your self to face the 'in case of emergency situations'?

Partly code name "ICE" in your phone would be slightly helpful if you are not puttting any passcode in your phone.

in my point of view if I'm going to use this ICE code I rather not to put password on my phone. "think of my life instead of phone" we normally put passwords to our phone to avoid theft etc...

for Me using ICE code will simply protect us and our family.

Your post is truly helpful. I just have printed ICE's for my husband's car & wallet and believe me, if not because of this post, I wouldn't consider of having it in my wallet.

But whatever and how many ever ICE's we store, what is the use if someone cannot open our cell phones which require passcodes..? :-)

So numbers handwritten and kept in the purse or wallet would be more ideal.

My Mom has a detailed typewritten Telephone file of all the telephone numbers at home.. They have a telephone and daily log book to note whoever has called, etc.

It is good to make it compulsory that the car should have a specific area where the details of all the regular riders like name, blood group, allergies etc be given in an card form...It could save lives...

She has kept a second copy in her handbag for use, while travelling...

She is the best person in the family when it comes to crisis management for anyone around....

ICE stands for In Case of Emergency.

From Wikipedia: "In case of emergency (ICE) is a programme that enables first responders, such as paramedics, firefighters, police officers, and (more likely) Hospital personnel, to contact the phone owner's next of kin to obtain important medical/support information (the phone must be unlocked & working). The phone entry(s) should supplement or compliment written (wallet/bracelet/necklace) information or indicators. It encourages people to enter emergency contacts in their mobile phone address book under the name "ICE".

Long time back I received an email emphasizing to store such emergency contacts prefixed with ICE(IN CASE of EMERGENCY).ICEhomeQatar,ICEFather,ICEwifeQatar and ICEbrotherUAE etc or ICE 1 QATAR,ICE2sudan are ways to store emergency contacts.

I store my contacts as mentioned above and I think if we popularize this concept ,it will be easier for emergency services to contact the immediate family or dear ones in such situation by just locating ICE list on a persons' mobile,a basic necessity nowadays.
