DOHA's NIGHT LIFE...How is it for you?

azilana7037
By azilana7037

Since being here for exactly 3 years, 3 months, 20 days, 2 hours and 15 seconds (....whheeeeew)...I think I saw/experienced what is there in Doha's night life. Since there's been a BIG difference from way back till now, I guess there's not a lot to see nowadays and it's the same thing..over and over and over again.

1. How were your Doha nightlife experiences?

2. What places (bars/clubs) you had been to and how was it?

3. Any establishment(s) you still haven't tried before? Why not?

I'm no good in planning on going to an event nowadays coz something always comes up on the eve or at the day of the event...shucks :-(

I guess I have had enough of DOHA???

Had a spot of dinner last night at Mrs Miggins Pie Shoppe ( check it out in QL Restraunts - British ) followed by a boozy evening at Club Erotica in Olde Rayyan - Brenda was on her usual form flashing her plumpies and doing unmentionable things with a King Cobra! MUSIC??? Depends on my mood, actually.

Nowadays, it's JAZZ and THE BLUES. In the office, it's more of the FEEL GOOD/LOVE SONG MUSIC. Gym time would be POP/RAP/R&B.

You were looking forward to this trip to as I recall. There is always next time buddy. I enjoy reading non-fiction books that I could use. The last fiction book I read was about interview with the vampire--that was a long time ago. However, my wife made me read "The Little Prince" a little bit a couple of months ago. Do you listen to music all the time though? I'm kinda addicted to music myself, I have over 90 gigs of music on my external hard drive.

How's your morning so far azi? Do you like sitting down at coffee shops with a good book?

By azilana7037• 14 Jun 2008 06:28
azilana7037

I have at least 10 books by my bedside to be read.

LIB is right, after visiting all nooks and corners of what DOHA has to offer, it became monotonous and you seek something else...like dune trips, fishing, hiking (if there is one), snorkeling or diving.

hummer_H3 is also right, it really depends if you got the MOOLAH to spend...otherwise, stay indoors :-P

Obviously I am a long staying guest in Doha (since 1995). From my experience I can say that things happen only in private settings. Try to get invited to parties, join groups going to the beaches to stay overnight, become a member of any of the social (theater or music) groups. Don't waste your money in the Doha Sheraton on the Mezzanine floor!

If you can manage to be accepted by 5 to 10 different people it will be hard for you to choose where to go tonight. Oh, yeah, what can you contribute?

By anonymous• 14 Jun 2008 02:20
anonymous

I ahve been here for months on end and have not left a single place unvisited...I have graced every nook and corner, every bar and coffee joint and have still not figured why I go to these places...Doha is good for solitary souls on the look out for some peace to say the least. All the places look same to me. Some of the 'live bands' are good but most of them are horrible...And the women who are waiting to be 'picked' add to the already miserable ambience...Wherever I go I see some or the other girl/woo-men looking at me enquisitively as if trying to look for signal and make some quick bucks...I don't like the feeling but I love my beer...So here I am doing the drill...I have started picking up a book nowadays and try finding a lonely quite corner and read the life out of the book in hand :)

Life is Beautiful...Indeed!

simple as that

or just stay home & Game Online..

since there are limited things you could do here in Qatar, most of the people go to coffee shops/bars with their friends to unwind/relax or whats not.

believe it or not...Darude is doing a very well job in the QLSG for making our weekends something to look forward to....especially for folks like me who's alone (but not lonely/sad)here because of work or for those families are not here...

LOL Azilana!! Not into the nightlife, so can't answer your question, but I cracked up when I read your post! I thought I was the only one who counted like that!!! LOL.... 8 years, 8 months, 3 days, but even I DON'T count the hours and minutes! How long is your sentence?!

(Now that I think about it, the night life back then would have been - Ramada, Sheraton, Marriott, Oasis)

Cheers!

By thexonic• 6 Jun 2008 17:10

Azzi there's a big difference in Doha right now and Doha back then. Specially since 2000. Before that, there was only Oasis club, Sheraton, Falcon club, people didnt party much, just hang out in sports clubs. But now, theres alot going on in the city, last night I was reading the Qatar Happening magazine and I was like wow, there's soo much to do this month. The problem with people here is, they just go to the same place over and over and then they say there's nothing much to do in Qatar. Plus its not even the place that is a problem, its the people, see the thing is, if u have the right kind of people, u will have fun even in the desert or at home aswell.

If u need a VIP table booking, PM fast as they will be gone very soon and it will be standing only.

I THINK people should try Qube for Hed Kandi, it will show that something very special can be done at Qube and that they are trying improve the place, BIG TIME.

Lets face it, it the best venue by a mile, although, we all know what people think, this is a chance to change that.

And to the people that don't come because its qube then i would just call that ignorance and say, well to bad for you because your going to miss an AMAZING night out!!

I take my hat off to the people that will give it a try, we are launching Hed Kandi, it IS the worlds leading party brand with over 60 CD's released world wide, a saturday night residency in El Divinio Ibiza, Pacha london etc, Hed Kandi do over 2000 events per year in the best clubs around the world.

Its an amazing concept in an amazing venue, its up to everyone to make the best of it!!

MAKE IT A QLSG GATHERING!!!!

Doha's nightlife has changed tooo much since 3 years ago.. At least there is something half decent at least once a month...

If u want to see something different - Join us at the launch of Hed Kandi - www.hedkandi.com - Live at Qube on june 13th...

DJs, Live Percussion, Lady Victoria on Saxophone!!

Full Hed Kandi Decoration, extra sound, extra light etc... It will be a great show, the vip is almost sold out via table bookings!!
