Everyone from the subcontinent should be put together as well going by your logic you gave earlier, the logic you used to put together everyone from Sudan, Egypt, Morocco, Arab peninsula, Lebanon and other Arabs . So combine Indians, Pakistanis, Sri lankans, Afghans, Bangladeshis and Nepalis and do the maths.
Better still, take a walk outside, ask every person you meet his or her nationality and report back here. Nothing like a hands on research. Arabs are a minority in this country and everyone knows it, what's there to get upset about?

I'm all over as you can see, the world is mine..:)
As for ql, I guess the ever changing of active ql users have always played role in determining which topics dominates the forum. I have to admit though that the hijack bunch do annoy me sometimes , specially when they hijack a topic under debate
@genesis, true. They do prefer the easy way, we all do. Then maybe the Qatarization policy should be ammended to include paid education and training of the nationals for more than just clerical positions prior to their hiring. It would also give the expatriates who are in higher positions to look for other jobs if they'd have to be replaced because many a times they aren't given enogh time before that and it's hard for them.
Thanks but I was actually just wondering how come there are very few arabs on forums.
While I do agree with you that we do suffer from influx of foreigners in Qatar. Still, I think the main reason for the locals increased feeling of resentment is due to the fact that they claim we don't have enough privileges like before !In addition, to deficiencies in health and education services because of population density
Expatriates presence is essential for the development process. There is shortage of qualified qatari employees, qatarization program have created a whole generation of clerk jobs for young college drop out qataris who prefers to be recruited for entry level jobs than to go for higher education
Just do a little search in ql, you'll find answers to all your questions. This have been discussed here many times before.
lol @nasser, ma3laish they came here for a better life.
@happy happy, you're right, we're not.
@EXLegend, thanx :
@happygolucky.... yeah it is actually, although it's just another Arab Muslim country.. feels bad to see so many natives still not getting benefits from Qatarization while many expatriates come here and find great jobs and everything on a silver platter..
in my uni for example there's supposed to be at least 45%seats reserved for qatari students and only 6 out of the accepted applicants are natives? No other country would settle for this. i know the language and experience count but I believe no country should plan on developing economically if it will come at the cost of health and education investment of the natives, this should be top priority. What they should have done is some kind of extensive language training or introduced the education of skill-oriented necessary elements into the curriculum of the average schools in Qatar rather than in a few schools which most won't send their kids to and then expect them to perform so well in universities and jobs.
Maybe they have another plan but I'm just speaking my mind here.
Nasser you are a Qatari? Good come on the 3rd to distribute water and juice to the people that are working in the hot sun :P check the link here http://www.qatarliving.com/node/1140122
@Eyecandy...I just wanted to know you from Sudan, implying actually whether you are also a non Qatari...since you are one of non Qatari's then, can't understand how you find your presence in Qatar as weird and sad.
Everything has 2 sides, while it's good for the economy it's bad for the natives and other Arabs when it comes to work that's why they have the Qatarization now which is good but so many are still silently suffering.
And it's sad i mean what kind of country has it's natives classed as a minority? Maybe it's partly the country's fault also for not giving passports to Arabs who have lived here for a long time. It's generally hard to obtain a Qatari passport even if you have a Qatari mother. So yeah big problems there.
India has second big population in the whole wide world, so therefore expect india pipol anywhere and not surprising they outnumbered Qataris here. Good work INDIA!
lol smoke, I atleast pretend. You should see my colleague. She is gathering friends around and having tea parties.... Annoying chitter chatter chatter. I'm sure to learn Arabic listening to all this very soon.
Have you noticed the population % in Qatar? Expats outnumber Qataris anyway. And Indians make up a big share of the Expats, so I think its a fair representation here in QL.
...There are tons of local Arabic fora, where the users speak their own dialect. They don't have to come to QL where they have to communicate in a different language. Local forums and blogs do exist in Qatar and other Arab countries.
Qatari's dont have to keep themselves amused through an online forum neither do they need to connect...its their place, they have the means for all that.
...EyeCandy, there're maybe lots of Arab QLers, but they're inactive. You can check the QL groups to see for yourself. The beauty of Qatar Living is the diversity.

You are wrong and you are in minority.
Rest you can blabber here as much as you want, won't change a thing.

haha Arabs are not a minority, a specific country maybe but not Arabs in general. 40% last time they counted i guess.
QL is a reflection of the world outside. Arabs are a minority in the country and also on QL.

i'm not so sure about Mauritania, Somalia, Djibouti and Comoros. But ther rest are all Arab countries.
@Xena well egypt, sudan, algeria, morocco, tunisia and libya are all African Arab countries. Rest are Asian Arab.
I, too define myself first as a muslim, an African then an Arab. And i'm a mixed breed not a 100% Sudanese.
i didn't exactly mean Qatari, just Arab in general... and what abuse are you talking about? :/
.....Xena, I hope bleu's response answered your question. In fact as an Egyptian, I define myself as African, Western Asian, Egyptian, Arab, Muslim. (There are Copts, and Jews too).

i'm an Arab

Obviously you don't want to talk about it...

Genesis, the mods here (and there) are trying to control any racism, the mods here seem to have become better at that...
Xena, the new definition of Arab is not purely by race :!
It's mostly countries that mostly speak Arabic, and that are members of the Arab league...
Here, we're Asian, and Arab... Some people in Africa are both African and Arab...
the impression that Sudan and Egypt are in Africa.... so wouldn't that make you African and not Arab, EyeCandy and HappyHappy?
what abuse?
It's not like other local internet forums users don't rant or complain about things locally!
At least , You won't find MODs at QL that prosecute you for what you write or witch hunt liberals for their views
"Local forums and blogs do exist"...
Many of us don't like to communicate in any foreign language, and don't like the abuse on QL.

How old are you?
...from the same land as yours, give it a guess?
I'm good, happy happy.
lol, nice name btw. Where are you from?
...EyeCandy, ezayek? You and I have a lot in common in the context of this thread...:)
oh ok. I thought so cause of your name.
EC: were you talking to me when you said you assumed I was Arab? Just in case you were, no. I'm not. I'm American.
Nope it's true, I think it's rather obvious from my DP anyway.
EC...your profile says you are from Sudan???? Is that true or otherwise.
EyeCandy dont listen to these jeaoulsy people...
Good to have u in QL, Welcome Aboard !!
@"My Sense", why on earth would you commend India for having such a huge population?
Now that's sadder and you know full well why.
haha lol you guys.
So yeah big problems there.
hehe eyecandy....look out indian behind you! LOL
India has second big population in the whole wide world, so therefore expect india pipol anywhere and not surprising they outnumbered Qataris here. Good work INDIA!
lmao happy, I just realized why, after you pointed it out :)
lol smoke rizks have 1 son only ..::))
oops...double post
Smoke...ROFL...what timing to show concern for Rizks family...:)
wondering!!! shud b happy , Qatar has big heart 2 welcome expatriates.. (now sayin ths i am wondering)
smoke yah i think so specialy rizks :))
lol smoke, I atleast pretend. You should see my colleague. She is gathering friends around and having tea parties.... Annoying chitter chatter chatter. I'm sure to learn Arabic listening to all this very soon.
BUT u never met any one.... lol
Eyecandy why is it sad and weird ? dont you think its good that you can afford to have them here to help the country grow?
Rizks how is your wife and two kids? Its been a long time i've met up with your family...give them my regards ok buddy :)
Either that or we Indians are pretty darn good in pretending to work while we surf QL during our office ours :P
and when do u have time Eyecandy ?
so tat i can also post at tat time ? :)
I'm not new but I just don't participate except when I find time.
deepb Indians put good makeup on their face....:)
Have you noticed the population % in Qatar? Expats outnumber Qataris anyway. And Indians make up a big share of the Expats, so I think its a fair representation here in QL.
well it is pretty much IL like "my sense" said lol.
I was just wondering, because I only see Philipinos and Indians or other non-Arabs.
But "khawaga" is right, Qatar is filled with non Qataris to a point where it's weird and sad. But it's their choice. I'm assuming you're Arab?
Shuddup Smoke orelse i shall poke a pen in ur EYE....:)
happy but i have not seen here comments in any threads, so she is a new bumble bee for me....:)
no happygolucky just eye candy is considered a newbie coz shes eyecandy to Rizks :P
47 weeks on QL is considered a newbie...:)
Eyecandy dont u know u need an introduction and a Coffee with ME - as u a newbee ? :)
...There are tons of local Arabic fora, where the users speak their own dialect. They don't have to come to QL where they have to communicate in a different language. Local forums and blogs do exist in Qatar and other Arab countries.
Eyecandy...to be honest this is IL (Indialiving)not QL (qatarliving) hehehe LOLZ!
Qatari's dont have to keep themselves amused through an online forum neither do they need to connect...its their place, they have the means for all that.
there r many qataris in QL but i think most of forums r occupied by expats.
...EyeCandy, there're maybe lots of Arab QLers, but they're inactive. You can check the QL groups to see for yourself. The beauty of Qatar Living is the diversity.
To me it seems a fairly accurate representation of Doha... mostly expats surrounding a minority of Arabs.
Why are you wondering about such a thing?
