FIFA 2018 and 2022 - who votes for who?
Here is a breakdown of the 22 FIFA executive members who will vote today and who they might vote for:
Julio Grondona – Argentina
Will vote for: Spain-Portugal/ Qatar
Won’t vote for: England, despite the attempts to woo him with the offer of lucrative friendlies against Argentina.
Issa Hayatou – Cameroon
May vote for: England – who backed his attempted coup against Blatter. Qatar.
Chung Mong-joon – South Korea
Will vote for: Korea
Won’t vote for: Spain-Portugal – he will be desperate to break up any momentum behind the Iberia-Qatar alliance.
Jack Warner – Trinidad and Tobago
Will vote for: the USA – in the first round, at least.
May vote for: England – but may ultimately depend on which way his mood takes him when he gets out of bed next Thursday.
Angel Maria Villar-Llona - Spain
Will vote for: Spain-Portugal/ Qatar
Michel Platini – France May vote for: England – despite the snipes from British tabloids, Platini is a committed Anglophile who grew up loving the English game. May be sufficiently deterred from his experiences with the 2012 European Championships in Poland-Ukraine to go for Russia. 2022 – but who knows?
Geoff Thompson – England
Will vote for – England.
May vote for – USA
Michel D’Hooge – Belgium
Will vote for – Holland-Belgium
May vote for – England (assuming a first round knock out for Holland-Belgium) and USA
Ricardo Teixeira - Brazil
Will vote for - Spain-Portugal
May vote for – Qatar, Korea – depends which would best suit his FIFA presidency ambitions. There was previously talk of a pact with Chung Mong-joon over this, which we understand is now broken.
Mohamed Bin Hammam – Qatar
Will vote for – Spain-Portugal/ Qatar
Senes Erzik – Turkey
May vote for – Russia/ Australia – Purely speculative though, keeping his cards close to his chest.
Chuck Blazer - USA
Will vote for - USA
May vote for – England, but a strange blog posting this week suggests a sudden infatuation with Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, so who knows.
Worawi Makudi – Thailand
May vote for: Spain-Portugal,
Nicolas Leoz – Paraguay
Will vote for: Spain-Portugal/ Qatar
Junji Ogura – Japan
Will vote for – Japan
May vote for – England
Marios Lefkaritis – Cyprus
Rumoured to be part of a Russia-Australia voting axis, but that is only speculation.
Jacques Anouma – Ivory Coast
Keeps his head down and we can only speculate on who he might vote for. Possibly still a floating voter.
Franz Beckenbauer - Germany
Will vote for – Russia/ Australia
Rafael Salguero - Guatemala
Has suggested that he is a floating voter in recent weeks, fuelling speculation he has joined the Iberia-Qatar alliance. May vote for – Spain-Portugal/ USA or Qatar
Hany Abu Rida - Egypt
here have been suggestions he is part of the Spain-Qatar alliance. We don’t really know, however.
Vitaly Mutko - Russia
Will vote for - Russia
Casting vote - Sepp Blatter
Sources in Zurich suggested only a couple of months ago that he was more inherently favoured towards a “safe” finals in England and the USA – but was before the Sunday Times scoop, which changed everything.
This is really reading the runes, but don’t be surprised if he put his political capital behind Korea’s World Cup bid as it ticks many boxes (the North-South element sates an obsession with making history; a successful Korea bid means a happy Chung Mong-joon, while simultaneously

gadarene, and to add to your point there was already the big screen display at aspire....
i knew it when i heard/read HH.Sh.Hamad, HH.Sha.Moza & HE.Sha.Hind along with HE. Sh.Mohd. were in Zurich...there is NO WAY THAT many members of the ruling family would be there to hear a negative response from FIFA...
Good luck to Qatar!
Soniya gi,
I hope lot of infrastructure development will be happen ,and relaxation in rules will also be experienced( Dont expect salary hike.......).Still i am happy to hear Qatar as winner of WC Bid 2022.
But mostly, lot of vaccencies will be created, enough man power will be pool to qatar to construct a new face of qatar to the world, and the foregin currency inflow to other countries will be increased. ( including India /Pakistan also..)
kamaran, and what if the existing companies won't opt for hiking the salary of its employees if at all the condition would go worst like what we saw during ASIAD?????
Yes, we seen 16 th Asian Games ,and i did a project for sports village.I was blessed to see and speak with all country sports man / women.
And also faced lot of traffic jam during all time. House rent touched sky. But as for my concern,if Qatar win WC Bid 2022, assume how many development will come and for that, how much job will be created and how many our brothers will be get new jobs and how many people job contracts will be extended....like i can say many....
So i wish Qatar should win WC 2022.
Can't wait to see the Brazilian beauties....
mirza, i think you were not in DOHA when QATAR hosted ASIAD and thus you are supporting QATAR for WC 2022 like anything...:)
Qatar & Only Qatar ...
Yeah, Qataris will be gone anyway.
There is an answer..
Give the expats a month off (outside the country) , thus clearing the roads and stuff for the visitors :O)
That is one problem eliminated in Qatar, except the reverse is true regarding maximum population density :)
The 2 favourite bidders Qatar & Australia. I'm having impression that Qatar will the Bid for FIFA WC 2022. Let wait and see. Allah knows the best (results and the consequences)
Just as a side issue ... Remember the complaints about the distances between stadiums in South Africa? Check this out in Oz:
http://www.australiabid.com.au/australias-bid_our-cities.aspx
Perth AND Sydney
That's a distance like Doha and Delhi!
They are absolutely spot on with regards to QATAR.
Lets Party.
:P
is disturbing! the bookies are seldom wrong. Could be a sad day for football! :0(

Qatar 4/6
Australia 5/2
USA 5/2
From William Hill website..
ENGLAND BACKED TO WIN 2018 WORLD CUP BID
AFTER drifting out to 3/1 with William Hill to host the 2018 World Cup after the Panorama show, England have been the medium of a hefty patriotic gamble to win the right to stage the event following the efforts of Prince William , David Beckham and David Cameron and Hills have slashed their odds to 13/8 second favourites. 'The cash has been piling on England to win the right to stage the 2018 World Cup bid but although over 75% of the bets have been for England, the larger bets are for the favourites, Russia. As bookies we face a six figure payout if England do win the bid, but we'll be delighted to shell out as a World Cup in England would produce a record betting turnover of in excess of £2billion' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
And William Hill offer 10/1 that the 2026 World Cup will be organised by a new organisation not related to FIFA. 'There is speculation that several influential countries are not happy with FIFA's practices and domination of world football and may be prepared to attempt to break their monopoly oforganising the World Cup' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
LATEST WILLIAM HILL 2018 WORLD CUP BID ODDS...8/11 Russia; 13/8 England; 9/2 Portugal/Spain; 40/1 Holland/Belgium.
USA SUPPORTED FOR 2022
WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds for the USA to host the 2022 World Cup from 9/2 to 5/2 after a flurry of support for them to do so. 'The late money is all for USA but Qatar look like remaining favourites' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
LATEST WILLIAM HILL 2022 WORLD CUP BID ODDS....4/6 Qatar; 5/2 Australia; 5/2 USA; 33/1 Japan; 40/1 S Korea.
I cant verify from work but someone said Hills have Qatar odds on! please say its not true! :0(
hell's Bells.
Paddy Power is making Qatar favourites ahead of USA...
Hope they increase our salary if they will increase rent and other commodities!
it seems celebration is inevitable.
wow.. Looks like its closer than we imagined
The Bookies have closed the Qatar bookings.. they have reached the highest bookie ratio ever in the world.
My full support for Qatar...................
i dont understand why are u people happy if this place win the world cup
You wont have enough money to survive here in Qatar if the BID is won also
There will be such an infltion that we who live in 2 bed room apartments will have 10 people staying
Our salaries are not gonna be hiked it would land up that we would need to pack our bags and leave this GOD foresaken place
So dont be stupid think about the future not about the present Dum people
if qatar wins, imagine the celebration during the National Day. ohhhhhh......
WK tomorrow is holiday i forgot, ya ya i can sleep what a coincidence.
Gadarene Tht what I said above, I think its done and thats why they are there. I dont think Emir himself wont be there to hear the Sorry from FIFA
Yes, Tomorrow is a holiday :P
Qatar wins the bid will they declare one day holiday so that i can sleep peacefully ??
But you also have to consider the size of Qatar and other than South Korea (which has more important things going on right now) the other bidders are pretty big players on the global stage. This could be Qatar pulling out all stops and hoping that "personal guarantee" will sway the voters.
gadarene, don't increase my blood pressure mate..:))
yes we all need to pack our bags and comeback with high packages if someone offers, LOL,
hms, let me go and pack my bags then..:))
Word on the street is that Qatar know they have won the bid which is why HH. Sh.Hamad & HH.Sha. Moza are in Zurich...to the best of my knowledge, none of the other leaders of the bidding nations for both '18 & '22 are there...representatives from all the governments yes,but not the leaders themselves...any thoughts people?...
it seems true,
Hike in Rentals will be a pain in the A***, but still want qatar to win.
hms, really???
Exactly my thoughts Nic, looks like hms
I would definitely think for other country incase QATAR wins the BID for 2022..:)
Reason is simple : No salary hike coz seen the same situation when ASIAD happened...
it is an insider news that celebrations will be on today in Doha and will continue, just official announcement required thats all,
Arien,
Rumors circulate that the magnitude of representation of Qatar in Zurich and the organized public events for tonight, are indications of knowing beforehand the tonight’s announcement results.
you are hinting at something ?? and it is true that today Souq waqif is flooded with tears of joy.
lol LIS ...
Just a logic Q. If it was no sure , would the Emir and team be there in Zurich today?
hope those are tear of joy, looking at the situation and the bookies call.
have been issued in the Souq waqif are of Doha tonight as 16cm of tears are about to fall in under 20 minutes! :0(
if qatar gets it then it will nightmare with lots of construction works, road works and what not, but as u said living cost will go sky high and our salaries will remain as it is, difficult for expatriates.
I just think that 'money talks" is a sad criteria that sends the wrong message to those who still believe in skills, competences, striving and achieving.
If Qatar wins, expect amazing rent increases starting soon in a home next to you!
We can see rents go up and salaries stay the same. More construction, more disruptions and in addition major backlash from conservatives.
If a big WHITE country wins then the media says that the voting was transparent
If a small minority country wins then the whole concept of money/goodies comes into picture. Why?
deserving one thing and getting it one thing, if Qatar gets it we have to say that it deserves because they got it and we can see sea changes in qatar in coming days.
If they pull it off I'll be the first to congratulate Qatar, but I still don't think they deserve it. Not yet, anyway.
judges will vote based on the money and the goodies the got but the sufferers are players and fans, anyway it seems today evening DOHA is not favourable for outing ?? full of celebrations it looks.
Chung Mong-joon – is an Anti-Qatari, he is in war with Hammam. So his vote will go to Australia or USA
The vote intentions are mostly speculative. But yes, it does seem like most of the judges have not spent a summer in Doha ;)
Are u going to rescue QATAR today ??
Seems to me like a lot of maybe's there. Being the favourite doesn't always work out. Anyway, just 7 hours left. Keep your panties on people.
Qatar
it seems majority qatar, isnt it ??
