First Qatar Cinema experience

Experienced my first Qatar cinema outing tonight to see Skyfall. Film was superb, spoilt by kids high on many cans of red bull, chatting through the film and making noises,, they were obviously too young to understand the plot, were only interested in the action scenes. Think I shall go to the later viewings next time I go to see a film. Tip might be to sit in the back row with a water pistol and give them the occasional squirt. Also couldnt believe some making phone calls part of the way through. Think I'll get up and walk around next time too.

It's pretty normal here.In fact it's a lot more comfortable watching a movie at the cinema here in Qatar than lets say in India.I have seen Casino Royale in India for the first time with a friend and a lot of people in the hall started screaming and yelling as soon as Daniel Craig first appears on screen!.They were like "Daniel Craig! Daniel Craig!".Not to mention the constant cheering and swearing at various scenes throughout the film!

Of course, with all due respect to all Indians.

I won’t be going back again,,, like it was said,, money cannot buy class.... it would never happen in Australia,, people walk into the movies with drinks and food,, and when they walk out they carry their rubbish out and place in the bins at the door, and they say Australians have no class.. shame to see this happen here,, a bad reflection on the locals again.

well me as a Qatari, I really hate those who make noisy and mess up at the theater. If we notice to who make that we will see most of them are kids between 10-15 , older people 18+ respectful and don't do what all have mentioned here

those mentioned ppl only have so much money. They even spent their money to the cinema (mostly kids) just to play...not to watch the movie! Such spoiled brat kids.

Regardless of the noise and mess whats the point in going to a cinema here where you can only watch half of the film?!

i also went to the Cinema here a few times... first time was ok... but after that, the image and audio quality was very bad and there were cut-offs that looked like censorship. After a few movies i said to myself... DOWNLOAD IS CHEAPER :)

I know it's not good or fair but i would rather sit at home with popcorn and something to drink, in the bed and watch a movie. It's more comfortable, the quality is how i want it and it's worth the wait for some movies.

Things like websites where you buy the movies in digital format and you watch them on the website are a big no-no since the internet is very bad for streaming.

And maybe it was an isolated incident?

I must have seen over 100 movies in cinema halls of Qatar and apart from a couple of occasions, I enjoyed the experience every time.

Sometimes someone's cellphone goes off but that I can ignore.

so don't even try that. The afternoon matinees seem to be the best according to my movie going friends. That being said, in my 7 years in Doha I only went to the cinema 2 times. That was enough for me to learn my lesson. I would rather wait and buy the DVD and watch in the comfort of my home without numerous mobiles going off, people moving about, and general rude behavior of others.

When the lights came on i was total shock at the rubish. it was a pig pig,, i never seen so much food on the floor or stuffed between teh seats, i wonder what it would be like to vist the houses of the people, ( no local mentioned) , i was in total shock,, and it seamed to be the norm for them, maybe they dont want to get their white robe dirty infront of the kids,,,

Love the water pistol idea, but it's cultural and typical in most third-world cultures. Try going to the cinema in most of Asia!

The first show in the afternoons is usually quiet--the lazy are usually still sleeping or stuffing their faces at this time.

It's their country, there's nothing much you can do about it.
