Flames Of Green... In Antiquity.
The Museum of Islamic Arts lay before me, resplendant in a faint rainbow, made by water particles from waves which lapped violently against the cemented walkways.
I parked my car and walked, through a garden desperately seeking to burst into full bloom. The plant wall undulated in a light breeze, taking on the appearance of a tongue of live green flame.
And then, through a crack in the flames of green, I saw the mystical abode of a thousand artefacts from eras gone by.
One soft CLICK from my Big Chief Eagle Eye and the scene was made a part of my unwritten history.
My glimpse for my generations to come.
And then there was the white plastic chair, that seat of authority which judged who passed the Museum's pearly gates.
It was a symbol, an invisible line which few would dare tread. It was the first line of defence which I dared not breach. I walked away, but not before making the scene another part of my existence.
A final word to the mystery Western photographer, who sported a brown tee-shirt and bermudas, who waved at me after seeing me kneel on the ground to get a better picture... Thank you so much.
That gentle gesture gave me enough motivation to continue in the killing sun. And had it not been for it, I'd have taken the easier path and entered the icy cool of the Museum. And then, both these pictures would probably never have come about.
I tried finding you inside the Museum, to personally thank you. I failed. In absentia, I wish to thank you sir, for motivating me. And for that, I dedicate these pictures to that mystery man.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
It's all to do with personal taste..
We go to museums more to see what's inside them , then the building itself..
I've visited and it is well worth the trip, absolutely fab! :)
NUCLEAR WEAPONS: IF AMERICA AND ISRAEL CAN HAVE THEM - THEN SO SHOULD IRAN.
the stark white building stood out against the green foliage on the first pic,
the second pic reminded me of a cover in the architectural digest, sans the white plastic chair...
the chair,,,uggghhh what to do with that?
both lovely pics....
when are you going to do an exhibit?:)
Thank you!
:-)
I loved the perspective of the first picture-and the colors and shapes. Beautiful.
Dali, I agree with you. It is something reallyh worth a visit.
Messymiss, yes, I agree. But the nightime shots have been done to death. Everybody seems to be posting pics about it. Wanted mine to be a little different. Anyways, thanks for being here and for the comment.
i find the night veiw more captivating & mesmerising!
Pay peanuts & you get Monkeys
Fabulous asset to Qatar! I shall visit soon, I'm sure I won't be dissapointed, anything else I should see?
Brit, I think the Museum is a work of art. But if you were referring to my first photo as drab, then I'd totally understand. to each his own. I liked the picture, but that needn't make you like it. But I appreciate the feedback all the same. If it was indeed my picture that you didn't like, then I shall try to make my craft even better. All the same, thanks for motivating me further.
Someonenew, Sentimental is a good word to describe me. And come what may, my works always reflect that. Thank you for the comments. Really appreciate it.
flex01, ditto. I like the museum too. It's a work of art indeed.
ONE, thank you for the comment. I have a feeling that the black comes out more powerfully too. I had half a heart to move the chair before clicking the snap, but against better judgement, left it where it was. It gives the picture a more rounded feel, i feel!
black & white is adorable
[im havin second thoughts though about the chair, i wish it was made from somethin else]
