I am relatively new here myself and not a kitchen wiz, and unfortunately time has taken me far from my German roots but a family recipe for saurbraten is what I'll start with. I haven't heard of any German/Continental European shops either. I am sure the kraut can be bought at Carrefour, etc.
Good luck with the move. . .get ready for the heat, if you have not been here before. This'll be my 'baptism by fire' this summer.

I guess I'll have to get some recipes from home and attempt some myself. Never done it but what hey. . .
u know, maybe u could find some kind of dish that is known as german, but i honestly have never seen any german restaurants in doha.
If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.
I did consider the meat issue and I concur. I know of at least one in Abu Dhabi but I did not find any in the Marhaba guide book.
hmm, no. not one!
besides, what would they serve here if there is no proper meat?
