may be he was in hurry to finish more and more,and later on submit the ID card numbers in his IPod.

so it means that they will note down our id card numbers also but in our case he is asking to submit the copies to him ... ufffff to these pplz realy

they only need number of ID card, and to answer a brief questionnaire, nothing else.

Nahd, in my case he had a look of our ID cards but didn't ask for ID card copy...

Last month onwards 2 guys visited us asking details ..the first time they asked only the name, fone number & number of males and females.

But 3 days b4 a giant sudani visited us asking for id cards copis of all the family members... why they need the id cards for??? one of the family in our villa gave the id cards saying that after submitting the id copies they will get benefits from the government????

Now all the families in our villa are doing the same ..... ??? I believe its fake but that Sudani guy said that he will visit us tomorrow to collect ours.....did anyone else handedover their id cards to these census agents ????????

An offical came to us a week back and collected some data regarding our personal life& health condition. He was inserting the answers at the same time in his IPod and gets it signed on his device by my husband.

It's the part of their job to collect some specific info. for the record, such as how long you have been here, how many internet users in Qatar, how many use laptop, how educated you are, how is your living condition, how many in Qatar are sugar/blood pressure patients etc.

... without any data.

Their first questions were to ask me my name and QID. I replied that this personal information wasn't relevant for a 'statistical survey'.

They insisted so I told them to leave which they eventually did.

LincolnPirate .. u are right ...im surprising too.in our building, we were given forms to fill and we need and submitted, after one guy came and collected our information too ,after that 3rd man came and collected our information too.with all of this,they sent a link to some people again to fill their information online. however, i didnt send to me

what pissesd me off was asking private question such as how many brothers and sisters do u have,how do u contact ur family,do u have net in your appartment, and --------------what does this have to do with their job?

i gave u my ID and if i have dependent u can know..why u want to know about my family....are they in qatar or why does that mather? i wish some of them dont have hidden agendas.this kind of job need people with communication skills and understand multicultural issues.

Some guy came to us, i gave in the data of my family, id, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, my phone and finally took my signature on the digipad.

After that i went to play football and when i got back my mom tells me that he went in another room behind our room where another family lives and asked for water. Finding the lady there alone, he forced into the house and tried catching her hand. She started screaming and every1 in that villa came to aid her. That guy must have been reported to the authorities.

Qatar CENSUS can't even make sure who to take and whom not to. This is a thing which out to be done by civilized and educated people and not wild fools.

Next time someone comes from census, m sure to kick him out of my house or give a call to the police.

rlasrado, even I think this is more than normal census...

The census guy came at 9 pm - although he did come at 5.30 and i was at work. Don't think the objective is for population but more for the status/standard of living of residents - they can easily get the population since each resident has a identity card.

I did not get any form but he directly punched in my data from my/wife's id into his digi pad. Questions asked -

How many bedrooms and bathrooms.

Internet.

Computer - which was on the coffee table infront of him.

Most probably the QSA will utilise this data to tabulate number of individuals staying in 2 bedroom apts, internet usage and ownership of laptop/computer - basically the standard of living of the residents of Qatar.

I signed directly on the digi pad once he keyed in my data together with telephone number.

I didn't like the fact that the data was in arabic and i had to sign on that. Another thing is that the guy didn't understand a word of english - to my luck my arabic dictionary went missing. Lastly, I wouldn't like it if he came when my wife wd be alone - my watchman did accompany him so that is a saving fact.

drmana...I do wish that someone like that will come to my apartment and ask me a couple of those Qs, I am known for being short tempered ...!!

As for counting other stuff..

There are 3 persons at home ...one laptop + one tv + one bathroom = 1 person

so there are 4 persons at home :D

The guy was asking questions which really seemed so silly. After checking mine and hubby ID he even checked passport of my baby as if to check if we were illegal. His questions were like how many wife you have, number of rooms and bathrooms etc, tv, laptops, internet and even checked mobile phones. Why would those be required for census I wonder. Are they counting people or anything else?

I must say both times the guys were polite, the first time the Qs were straight forward, the second time the only extra answer I gave was giving my ID, but any other Qs I refused to answer.

They visited me twice. First time, a month back and just asked for my name and number of family members. Another guy came yesterday at around 6PM and asked me a number of questions including names, age, qualifications, job details of all family members. I wonder why did he ask the number of rooms & bathrooms/kitchen, Computer, Internet, Telephone & How many TV Sets I have?

So serious was the breach of trust it verges on a police matter.

Your case is extreme. In my case,I have told him to f off and thats the reason he is coming tomorrow. He was raising his voice with me and wanted to see my bedroom or bathroom and was tring to force his way in. I obviously told him to get lost. Let's see tomorrow. I would prefer that all this goes peacefully. But a complaint will definately be made.

I have to file a formal complaint against the guy who came to my place. I will provide you the name here tomorrow as he is coming again at 5.00. His badge reads 'ENUMERATOR' as the designation and he is one of the worst son of a bitch I have come across at Doha so far.

Your census guy came late in the afternoon, asked some inapprpriate questions which are not related to their purpose of visit, placed his head on my tummy to check if Iam really pregnant, and asked for a kiss and later on stole a kiss from me when he was about to leave. Had the nerve to come back at 7pm to take the info of my house mates who were still in the office when he first came to the house. Of course, my husband confronted him, taken aback, his speech became incoherent and insisted that he cant understand in English when in fact he had already spoken to me and other housemates in english prior to the conversation. I am trying to be calm at the moment because like what I've said earlier I am pregnant and had experienced spotting a week ago, Iam prioritizing the safety of my baby over my anger.

He took about half an hour in ours and this was the second time. He had already visited us 3 weeks back and given us a form to be filled. But this time, it was long interview and he didn't know the proper words that he was asking for......took a while for us to understand what he meant to ask.

Oryx, this is indeed a very serious matter! I don't know how ours looked like, but I think his quick visit went normal, my family told me.

Tell your slimy census collector that he is to collect info not try and get a girlfriend....

He had to be ejected from the house and that took some effort and then he came back!!!!

On the team they have picked up.... the way guys are commenting above seems, they don't train the volunteers well or the volunteers don’t follow up the procedures well...as they know that no one is going to check them…….

Where you live gives them a clearer picture for development of the city... If I was doing it, I'd generate stats per area like Male/Female ratios, nationality ratios.

Our guy in Muntaza was ok on the English front - just - but boy was he persistent - I was in shower when he rang and rang and rang and rang and .... you get the picture - these guys should sell used cars or life insurance!!! There is clearly a motive other than the collection of information that the authorities ALREADY have - I'm thinking as Bleu - they want to know WHERE exactly you live. Such insecurity is really unnecessary.

Yup they make census also in our place in Dafna problem is the people whos making census do not speak english its to hard to explain .

suggest to take a picture of the "person" and immediately call the police.

They are not suposed to "force" their entry into nobody's home.

If the person at your door is not clearly identifiable as working for the Gov in the census please do not release any personal info and call the authorities immediately. If you are in a compound raise the alarm to the neighbors and to the security maybe they can help you also.

Remember, if a "strange" situation is developing call 999 or the census info number 8000800 for help.

last night, close to 10 pm, a man who could not speak english came to my door and asked me my marital status, nationality and mobile number. He also commented 4 times in regards to my marital status then proceeded to gesture that he wanted something other then taking the census!!! No form was given to me to complete and none of my neighbors were visited. I am concerned as another compound was recently visited by someone claiming to be taking the census and the man forced his way into a woman's house!!! I am concerned!!!!!

The Qatar government asks the people's cooperation regarding this CENSUS thing. It only takes 10 minutes max for the guy to finish his work...so be kind, it's not an easy job, you know...

Business hours are for the OFFICE.

a certain AHMED MOHAMMED (who cannot speak english) came knocking on our door at 10:00PM... is this acceptable??? while the STATISTICS website clearly states that the business hours are from 7:00AM to 2:00PM...now can somebody explain why are they doing this census thing at 10:00pm????????

enigma, if you are working for the Statistics office will you please do me a favor of letting those in-charge of dispatching these people not to barge this late!!! i will be more than willing to cooperate but NOT when we are about to sleep!!!!!!!!

I refused to provide information for the UK census guys when I lived there and they visited in the past for the 10 year surveys.

I'll follow the same procedure when they come knocking here.

And everybody has an ID number (even children)... They can get the counts by querying the MOI database...

They need to know where these people live.

They have already started in my area (Maamoura)yesterday. My wife was surprised when somebody was knocking in our door and was asking for details. Its a good thing our neighbor was there to explain what is happening becase I think the one doing the census cannot talk in English.
